Hi guys, after being told I had Fibromyalgia last year I was given a leaflet and that was it. I’ve tried to research but I always think it’s best to get info from the horses mouth. Can anyone tell me more about this condition please??? I have so many symptoms but don’t know which to attribute to which condition. For instance.. It sometimes feels like my skin is bruised or on fire if somebody touches me. I get terrible hip pain and it hurts to put pressure on my leg but it also hurts to lift up the legs. Are these Fibro??? All help is greatly appreciated and Thanks in advance 😊

Sure does sound like my symptoms I get hot itchy skin rashes ibs sleep problems and depression and anxiety also pin prick sensations on my skin aswell as hip pain pain and you guessed it more pain xxxxxxx sorry u have this but this forum will help u with your struggles and aknowledge u on this condition xxxx
The skin issue is called allodynia – when you feel pain from something that should not be painful at all, such as a very light touch and is unfortunately quite common with fibro. As you say it can feel like the skin is bruised or can feel like it is on fire.
The hip pain sounds to me more it might be more arthritis based I have similar pain in the hip q d it can sometimes hurt to flex the leg. If this is q new symptom it might be best to have s word with your doctor.
Fibro has so many symptoms and somemjverlap with other unrelated conditions it can be very difficult to know what is what is causing what.x
You may find our main website at fmauk.org useful for general information on fibromyalgia and you can also find our patient booklet at fmauk.org/publications
Fibro pain is caused by faulty pain signals and because there pain is neuropathic/nerve pain then the actual pain type can change from one day to the next
The core fibromyalgia symptoms are widespread chronic pain, fatigue, cognitive dysfunction and disturbed/unrefreshing sleep. Ibs and depression/anxiety are other common symptoms
Yes all your symptoms sound fibro related. I, too got my diagnosis from Guys Hospital in 2012 and left to get on with it. Don't expect any follow up (especially in the London area) as you won't get any! This site is my biggest help. Good luck and stay optimistic x
I was diagnosed in 2014. Because i was abroad and in private health care i got so much support: physio for back and shoulder pain, injections as and when my rheumatologist deemed necessary and recognition of the condition. What a shock it was to come home.
I have just been plodding along until today when i decided to join this site. It seems very supportive, which is what i need to get me through the dark times.
I currently have muscle pain in my neck, shoulders and lower back. I also have joint pain in fingers and shoulders. It moves around the body where and when it wants, so don’t be surprised if it disappears only to come back again or in a randomly different place!
HOT BATHS ARE A MUST!
