Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about the effect osteoporosis infusions may have on people suffering from Fibromyalgia? I have been advised to have them as my bone density has significantly deteriorated, I’m 71 and don’t feel happy about having such an invasive procedure.

Thank you Penny. A most enlightening article, I’ve used the Mayo Clinic as a point of reference for my Fibro and have come off all the debilitating medications I’ve been prescribed in the past - and feel much better for it in taking the various supplements for each symptom Fibro presents - which are many. I’m going to carry on down that route I think. They put the fear of god into these doctors sometimes.
Thanks, I think the risks are too high with my Fibromyalgia. I’m not going to be popular with my doctor as I refused statins because of its know side effects for people suffering with Fibromyalgia. Ones damned if you do or damned if you don’t, it’s all so very depressing. ☹️
I have yearly infusion of Zeledronic acid for my Osteoporosis and have been having them for some years now with a break about every five years. So far so good. No real side effects apart from one might feel a bit fluey after for a day or two but apart all ok. It takes about 15 minutes for the infusion. Obvviously a bit longer at the hospital for blood pressure checks etc. Much easier than horrible tablets that effect the stomach. I'm 72 years of age by they way. I suffer from Coeliac disease, Fibromyalgia and osteoporosis. My bones deteriorated due to the Coeliac disease which was not diagnosed until in my late 40's. I was born with it evidentally and no one picked it up. But the infusion saves so much hassle. Talk to your doctor or osteoporosis nurse if you are worried but I'm ok with it. By the way I usually get a nice cup of tea and 2 paracetamols if I want them at the hospital. Our nursing staff are really wonderful. Overworked but wonderful.
I resisted the flue jab for a long time, however each year I caught flu which developed into really full on chest infections that lasted for months. My doctor persuaded me to have the jab, luckily I seem to be able to tolerate it and haven’t had flu since. I no longer dread winter.
