Hi, sorry to hear you are in pain. To be honest I just grit my teeth & carry on with all my exercise. The ones I find that give me more relief, whilst in a flare, are walking & yoga. Yoga especially as I find it releases tight, tense muscles & calms me.

I agree totally. There are yoga sessions on YouTube specifically designed for fibromyalgia which I do 2/3 times a week. I really suffer if I don’t keep this up.

Hi there, to be honest if I'm having a painful flare up of symptoms the last thing on my mind would be thinking about doing exercises. I have had Fibro for well over 30yrs and for me just getting to the bathroom and back is about has much exercises I could cope with during a flare up. But then everyone's different and so are their pain levels.

I think walking is the best way to exercise and keep moving. It maybe just round the garden or even the home. But actual exercise is a no go for me I'm afraid. Stretching seems to help many. Again for me that causes mega burning pain. I would say what ever you choose to do start slowly and stop when it hurts or preferably before it hurts. Good luck :)

That sounds dreadful for you. I have been really good up until yesterday. Pain comes like a switch. I do manage walking and thank goodness back to work till September 😊 Take care, stay strong

For me personally, when I'm in a flare the main type of exercise I do is very gentle stretching exercises at regular intervals throughout the day.

You are naturally going to be less active during a flare, but you still want to try and avoid increased stiffness, which will lead to increased pain

Thank you 😊

Try restorative yoga as it’s mainly stretches and it works for me during a flare. During restorative yoga you can use blankets or pillows to aid comfort which helps when your muscles do not want to play. Give it a go even ten minutes leaves me feeling better x

My yoga teacher has just started these sessions. Absolutely amazing. I felt so good after one I actually cried!

They are really good and it’s nice to know you can do some exercising even on the bad days!! Every little helps ❤️

Tai Chi is what I use; I'm too old and stiff for Yoga. Tail Chi is mainly stretching.

Cheers, Midori

Hi ive got a mini trampoline but I got that to help with my Osteoarthritis as it’s less pressure on my joints. But if I’m having a flair up my all I do is potter round my home and listen to my body.

I walk the dog every day and do some stretching every morning - there are good and bad days. Waiting on a treadmill; as need more cardio plus need to lose weight to help with my joints.

Hi 248kel, I don’t have many flare ups at all anymore. I pace all activities. Only when I do too much I have pain and then I rest before it gets worse. When I first had fibromyalgia I’d have terrible pain in my shoulders. It made me nauseous and my face would go a beige/green colour. I can’t remember my last flare up but In answer to your question yoga is supposed to be best.

When my pain flares up I find that stretching is the only thing that relieves any pain. I usually lie on the floor and sometimes do stretches for an hour until the pain has eased. You can find lots of videos on You Tube.
