Name your fear

I used to do a lot of work in problem prevention and was involved in some major consulting work with the Chemical Industry prior to the turn of the century..... I'd still like to think that the reason we never really noticed the 'Millennium Bug' was because so much work had been putting into disaster scenario planning.... that is, describe the worst outcome, work out what could cause this to happen, take as many actions as you can to avoid/prevent it from happening, whilst putting into place as many contingent / mitigating actions as you can (afford!)

Perhaps the starting place for those of us with immune systems that are compromised in many different ways, is to name our fears - and start from there.

Is running out of loo rolls your greatest fear, I doubt it......

If catching the virus is, then list as many ways that you can think of which would/might lead YOU to catching it.

List these, then think of what could cause YOU to catch it..... list these....

Then, think of all you can do to prevent these causes from happening.

For example, as I've stopped going to the shops, the most likely cause is people coming to the house:

- to deliver stuff

- to visit me

Being an antisocial old bat, I'm quite happy sticking a note on the door asking Amazon / ebay delivery people to leave parcels on the step. (Kind Mr Postman already puts parcels inside the back door, with a knock and a cough from back in the days when I wasn't well enough to open it for him...)

Local SPAR delivers, as do some supermarkets. They obviously can't leave frozen food on the step.... so, they come in and leave stuff on my table while I stand and hold the door open for them....

Friends are asked to wash their hands on arrival and, as much as I LOVE hugs!, we refrain from friendly greetings. (Most understand as, in my age group, most have elderly parents they want to protect too... )

Now, we need to come to the Contingent / Mitigating actions we need to put in place in case all our preventive actions haven't worked...

What do you need to do NOW, that'll reduce the seriousness of the virus attack you could get (if all you did to reduce the likelihood of this hasn't worked)?

We don't know yet if other cold / 'flu treatments work. Best thing to do now (in my case) is to invest in strengthening my immune system as from NOW....

I'd welcome input on what we can do to improve our chances of coming through an attack of the virus should we be unfortunate enough to get it (despite being antisocial old bats!)

Best wishes, wherever you are in this...
