If DWP feel they have enough supporting medical evidence on how your condition affects yu then no.....you won't be called for f2f.

A number of people have had cancelled PIP assessments. Mainly due to staff sickness. Some people do get paper based assessments and are awarded PIP on the evidence alone. Normally after an assessment is cancelled a new appointment is made shortly after. They will ring or write to you.

There have been cases where on looking at the evidence again they have done a paper based assessment following cancellation. So all hope is not lost. But that is very rare.

Most people have a f2f, but if you send enough evidence and there's enough info in your form, sometimes they do a paper-based assessment. Why was it cancelled?

They didn’t say. But now I have a health assessment for Universal credit so maybe it’s a combined UC and PIP Assessment. I’ve never been a claimer and I do find this difficult as I feel like I’m robbing the system but I have payed into the system for 33 years

I don't think they're combining them yet... I'd call and find out what's going on, if you can.

I know how difficult it is. I studied and worked so hard, I had a lot of savings, and although I always supported the provision of social security, I never thought I'd end up living on benefits long-term! Life takes... Interesting turns, doesn't it?

The "scroungers" and "shirkers" crap, and the stigma and shame of (gasp!) not being able to work for a living have seeped through society and have even snuck into our own heads.

You know yourself. If you could work you would, yes? If you could survive without benefits you wouldn't be claiming, right? 99% of us on sickness benefits feel the same - you're not alone! Most of us found/find it hard to have to claim, but...

BUT...

This is what the system is for. It's (supposed to be) a safety net, to catch those in need. We never thought we'd be the ones in need, but here we are. Let it catch you. You're not robbing, and there is no shame in this. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Not what you're looking for?
