I would recommend nothing, my GP is right she thinks these medications are rubbish even if it makes you feel better in the long run they come with consequences

This is only my personal view 🤫

What do you do when you have pain

Sometimes I do gentle yoga, physio, hot pool and basically live with it. I started with some medications but the all made me 100 times worse

Going to a pain clinic soon to get advice as well as being referred to a Fibromyalgia clinic waiting to hear from them

I have various conditions including shallow disc protrusion, degenerative disc disease from neck to lower back. Basically I have been written off but do my best to enjoy the little things I do with pain 🧚

Hi Hun . You are so lucky you can still do yoga etc . Keep at it as it’s sure to help. I also have many different conditions like COPD, Spina Bifida and bone growth on my spine. Unfortunately I am so shattered And in pain that I cannot exercise etc so for me I have no option but to carry on with the drugs.

Have a good day Hun and happy exercising. Xxx

Just working on a project, will finish next year, my university days are over...want to do more but cannot overcome the ill health. 😰

Aw bless you. Well done on doing something constructive. I was supposed to start a PHD in Exeter uni but couldn’t do it due to my health. 😢Never mind I might try pottery instead.

Good luck with your project 👍Xxxx

Thank you Lynn, I guess we can enter into a University of life if we are impaired and just enjoy the basics. But it is a shame that we want to give so much to science society but meant not to be 🙀try to be positive

I love pottery, it is a form of art, enjoy and send us the picture of what you have done. Currently I am doing some knitting for a charity where the finished products go to disadvantaged children of the world, the only thing is I knit 🧶 very very slow but the thought counts. 😻

Hi I was on Gabapentine also but not really impressed with it . I was changed onto Pregablin which I found works better with all my other drugs ( Tramadol etc). I guess it is just finding whatever works for you. Good luck 😉 xx

Hi, I've been on Gabapentin 900mgs per day for a few months now. Side effects can be a bit scary (dizziness and drowsiness) but for me they disappeared quite quickly and they worked almost straight away for me.

It does depend on whether your body agrees with them or not and I don't exactly know what long term effects they have but I am okay with the dose I am at as I also take them with co-codamol.

Best thing is to ask your GP about them or if you've already picked up the prescription, read the information you get in the box from start to finish, decided if you would cope with the side effects and research long-term consequences of taking them and then make an informed decision.

I told my GP that I would take them for 3 months and then review it but so far, I'm okay with them and even though they don't take away all of the pain, I have different types of pain, they do help me.

Best wishes.

Personally I don't feel that it helps that much. I'd always thought it was an anti inflammatory but finally read the leaflet and found that it's for nerve pain. I'm thinking about asking doctor if I should come off it.

I was put on Gabapentin in 1996 and it helped a lot with pain running down my legs. As I got used to it, I needed a higher and higher dose to get the same pain relief. Once I was on 2,700mg a day, my Consultant switched me to Pregabalin in 2008, its sister and far more modern drug. It requires far less Pregabalin to obtain the same pain relief. So it is better for your liver and kidneys. I need just 300mg of Pregabalin and it does not seem to require more and more of it to maintain the pain relief.

It works well for me and I am glad I am on it. You do have to take care that you do not over-eat as it raises your appetite. A lot of people gain weight and blame the drug but it is the increased appetite that causes the weight gain, so be determined and try not to snack between meals.
