Today my pain levels have been through the roof, I’ve never known it to be this bad, but I powered through knowing I wasn’t going to be late home. I was diagnosed last month officially so still trying to find my feet. Today my arm has been so sore, no redness or bruising, I don’t remember hitting it, but even my clothes brushing against my skin is so painful. I had a migraine Monday night and my fatigue levels were so bad yesterday I just slept most of the day, so I think this is a flare (IBS flare too, yay!) I wondered is this the fibro? I’ve had it before in many other places and never put 2 and 2 together!

Allodynia is one of the unfortunate symptoms of fibro the skin feels painful even if you just brush against it and as you say there is no swelling or redness. For some strange reason you can have it in just a few parts of the body and sometimes it can be more widespread. I get it more when I have been overdoing it like today as cooking the dinner especially as I am also trying to recover from a bad virus has wiped me out. A patch on my back which always seems to react badly is burning and painful and I am having difficulty sitting back. You have my sympathy.x
Merry Xmas to you. Sorry to hear you are in a lot of pain today. Fatigue is very bad generally but worse in a flare. Pain seems more acute to. Hope it settles down for you soon. x
Merry Christmas to you too, hope you have at least some pain free time today. Please take care of yourself Lynne
Thank you everyone! I’m at home in my jammies now and relaxing, it’s a little better now I’ve been able to sit with my heat pack but my whole arm still aches so much! Didn’t think I’d been stressed out or over run, maybe just the thought of Christmas has been stressful enough!
My son has asbergers and is always saying thoughtless and tactless things. Since the fibro started I find I can’t handle it like I used to - because I’m in pain all the time. When he upsets me it can cause a fibro flare up lasting days so now if I have anything important on I try to postpone seeing him until afterward. I try to keep life on an even keel as I now realise both physical and emotional stress set it off.
Only you can identify your triggers so keeping a diary charting food, upsets, feelings, weather conditions, draughts, too hot, too cold, damp, rain (even clothing and body wash can be a factor!) can really help identify them, enabling you to better manage your wellbeing.
Thank you, I hadn’t even thought of keeping a record of everything. I got about 20 notebooks for Christmas so I’ll be making one my fibro diary! Waiting to see the fibro nurses so I’m so new to this. I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going through, it must be really tough! Sending hugs!
