Advice please

Hi all, just after a bit of advice, I am currently having tests with my doctors but my symptoms are numbness- pain in my lower back, neck shoulders legs and arms- this is on and off. Restless sleep and constantly tired. Bruises all the time for no reason. Dizziness although not often. Headaches, awful memory, cold like symptoms, TMJ and bouts of a dodgy stomach. I’ve suffered these symptoms on and off for years. I’m convinced it’s fibro but I wanted to get the opinions of people who have it. What do you think? And I what can I do to help it? I’m on

Amitriptyline which does help. Thanks 😊

Hi Yes it definitely sounds like fibro to me.I have all those symptoms apart from bruising never had that at all. I also have very stiff joints and never had that before I had fibro. I take tramadol and for me it is a wonder drug. It takes the pain the stiffness. The severe fatigue away and I can live a normal life. Everything I do in life revolves around when I take the tramadol. It works for me. but may not work for everyone. I hope you get a diagnosis and a solution to suit you.

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. The stiffness and muscle aches in my back have recently flared up and there awful it’s so painful! Hopefully my doctor will diagnose me and maybe prescribe me tramadol and I can see if it works for me too! Thanks again :)

Good morning, I have all those symptoms including the bruising which I am concerned about as I wasn’t sure if it is part of Fibromyalgia. I currently have a big bruise down my leg with no recollection of hitting it, and this happens frequently, but with so many other symptoms I do not bother the doctor about it. The dizziness is continuous and renders me immobile a lot of the time.

I’m currently taking propranolol for migraine relief, with sumatripan for when I get an attack. My Amitriptyline (75mg) is in the process of changing in the hope it will help with increasing spasms going down my back into arms and hands, legs and feet with pins and needles and numbness. I have also had TMJ for a couple of years with nothing being done about it ( not sure if there is anything can be done) with so many ongoing symptoms it’s hard to keep on track, particularly with the memory and cognitive issues I developed a couple of years ago. I had to give up my job completely two years ago as working became impossible for me.

As for what you can do to help, if you can remove as much stress as possible ( I gave up work, even though financially it is tough and I always enjoyed my job until I was making so many mistakes it became too stressful and added to my symptoms) Do not be a people pleaser, you need to try and put yourself first as a flare up is not worth the risk. Try and eat natural foods, I don’t eat any processed foods ( tummy troubles, and increases the flares) I also take magnesium and CBD oil. When you need to rest listen to your body.

I wish you all the best.

I hope the above makes sense as I can’t concentrate for long any more, but please ask any questions and I’m sure others will come along with their tips on coping with this condition also.

Hi, firstly thank you for your reply, I’m sorry you have such awful symptoms :( I read about the bruising being a side effect and I’m the same I’ll have random bruises overnight when I’ve done nothing to get them. For my TMJ I have a mouthgaurd to protect my teeth but it doesn’t help the pain or jaw clicking I have. I’m only on 10mg of amitriptyline this low dose makes me drowsy the next day. My doctor has said He wants to do more tests so hopefully I’ll get a diagnosis soon, it’s odd as I feel like people think I’m a hypochondriac as I have different symptoms all the time but they all fall into fibro which is why I think I have it. I hope you start to feel better and thanks again for your tips and taking time to reply to me xx

You sound just the same as me. Some of the symptoms make you feel like you are going mad. My memory some days is so bad. I had to stop work because I couldn’t concentrate and made mistakes. At least when you are at home the stress eases off. This fibromyalgia changes everything.

Good morning Linds, nice to meet you and wish you a very warm welcome to our group :)

Unfortunately everything seems to sound like fibro. This is why for some getting a diagnoses from their GP can take a long time for some people. I think if they are a good GP they will take their time to check out all the symptoms for elimination purposes. They do need to check there's nothing else going on. I hope your doctor as some answers for you soon :)

Good morning and thank you for letting me join your group, yes my doctor said we need to eliminate a few other conditions first which I’m glad he’s taking the time to investigate. I’ve previously had a mri which ruled out ms so I’m due a few others before I see him again. From reading all the replies and posts I feel it is fybo so we’ll see what’s said. Thank you for the link I’ll have a look now.

Thank you hope you have a great Sunday too :) xx
