Advice please

I suffer with quite extensive abdominal adhesions due to surgeries and possible endometriosis, as well as Fibromyalgia… I suffer pain & bloating daily as well as all the other symptoms that it brings with it. I went out last night (rare occurrence) and I had a few drinks also rare, I drank what I normally do which is larger & lime but towards the end of the night I had an horrendous pain in my mid lower abdomen like I was being ripped inside! Needless to say I had to leave and when I got home I sat on the loo to have a wee and the internal pressure was unbearable! it radiated from my pelvic area into my rectum and intensified if I tried to relax again like my insides were being torn. I have had a hysterectomy when I was 31 so I know my bowels have filled that space. The pain has continued throughout the night and reached an all time high early this morning I genuinely nearly phone got a paramedic although I didn’t. I had to try and open my bowels and only passed just a little but it hurt so much, has anyone else experienced this? I’m wondering if it were gas as even trying to pass that was horrendously painful or maybe I have a kink in my bowel or a partial blockage? It has eased throughout the day but when I sit down the pressure is still really bad. Sorry for the long post and detail x

Hi there, it sounds like constipation. But agan to be honest it sounds like a lot of things IBS for example even something to do with the appendix maybe.

The only one to help you would be your GP I'm afraid if it is still bad in the morning I would advise you call your surgery.

If it flares up again before morning call 111 for further advice xx

I had to have a CT scan, they gave me morphine and something intravenously to relax the abdominal organs so I'm able to cope with the pain and pass wind at least... they had to check I wasn't impacted which is a high risk possibility for what I have. The adhesions have caused my bowel loops to become attached to one another (instead of sliding) creating narrow passage ways and hindering the peristalsis function that's why the smallest amount of poop feels like it's ripping me... there's nothing they can do apart from pain management, relaxants and I've got to change my diet to easily digestible foods so my bowel doesn't have to function properly to push waste through. Long story short it's my adhesions getting worse, more dense and tighter so it's a matter of trying to avoid impaction and the other complications that go with it x

Hi Channy

Sending big hugs right now as I know exactly what you are going through. Our stories are very similar. Severe Endo, then had a Full Hysterectomy at 30 and after many years suffering various stomach and kidney/gall bladder issues which eventually led to my Fibro diagnosis. If you are anything like me then the endo has caused massive scarring between the various parts of the bowel, and so certain things, swift bowel movements following a slightly too hot curry can cause me excruciating pain. Feels like my insides are ripping apart. I've had problems with some of the hospital procedures like lower endoscopy, because of the scarring the Colon doesn't move and some of the larger cameras are not bendy enough to go around. After a Laparoscopy my consultant said it looked like someone had gone mad with a tube of superglue and a magimix inside - everything was stuck to everything else!

I have to be wary of high-fibre foods, beers with a large wheat content, or too many flour-based carbs in a day (2 slices of white bread is now the max). I also have to be careful with tablets that cause constipation. I try to keep to a regular motion time, once a day if I can, otherwise I end up having to rest in the fetal position until the pain subsides.

I do hope you start to feel better very soon and send gentle hugs your way. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
