Hi all

New to all this, not sure if what I have is Fibro, but my mum and daughter are sufferers 😯 Signed off work with 'virus' not been feeling well for what seems like forever. Am deficient in Vit D....I know the symptoms of Fibro, which I have 😞

As you are newly diagnosed my best personal advice to you would be to take some time out (in your head) to try to come to terms with having a long term condition

.

Acceptance can be incredibly hard. I was diagnosed with Fibro 2 yrs ago and if I am honest I still haven't really accepted it.

Learn as much as you possibly can about Fibro. If you have a look at our mother site you'll find lots of information about Fibro on there

fmauk.org

We do recommend that you lock your posts. I will pop back and give you a link to an easy to follow guide on how to lock your posts. **

We are incredibly lucky to have such an amazing bunch of people on the forum. Ask anything you want to and we will do our best to help and support you.

Hello dew_drop

Welcome to the forum :)

You don't say how long you have been feeling unwell for?

What would you say your main symptoms are?

As your mum & daughter both suffer with it, you will know how long it can take to get a definitive diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.

There are various other conditions that have very similar symptoms to Fibro such as Lyme Disease, MS & Lupus and it is very important that these are ruled out first.

Personally I would say that your best course of action would be to see your GP and see what they have to say.

You may find it useful to have a look at our mother site, where you will find lots of information about Fibro fmauk.org

Please let us know how you get on with your GP.

Be kind to yourself

Thank you Lu, to be honest cant remember when I last felt totally well 😪 I seem to gave good days and bad days. I have aches and pains in my legs and arms, feel tired and have no enthusiasm on bad days for anything. I have trouble remembering things and focussing. Anxiety too, but I am in anti depressants at the moment as have probs in the past.Feel a mess tbh 😭

Hi I was diagnosed about 18 years by a Rhumatoid arthritis consultant. I don't know if things have changed since then when I was first diagnosed I was lucky the hospital held a fibromyalger clinic found it extremely helpful but have had nothing since from hospital or Dr's feel as if I am I am alone and not believed that there is anything wrong

Hello and welcome to our friendly fibro forum where you can find help, advice, support and understanding, along with a chuckle or two to lighten the day.

I suggest you speak to your doctor who may want blood tests and other tests carried out before he will come to a diagnosis. Sometimes it is worth asking for a referral to a rheumatologist or even neurologist to get a firm diagnosis.

This usually happens when all the tests for other conditions come back negative.

There is no firm link of fibro between family members, but it does seem, on the surface at least, that some members have children or parents suffering with it.

I wish you luck, please let us know how you get on.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum

Kay

Hi dew_drop

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am so genuinely sorry to read of your suffering and struggling and as the others have said it could be connected to a myriad of other medical conditions.

Usually it is a question of elimination before you can get a Fibro diagnosis, but I truyl hope that you can find some answers soon.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
