Quick question...how do you all deal with weight gain?
I've put on a LOT this year ( 3 stone) and it's getting me down/concerned.
I have a new puppy so have started going out for half hour walks with her twice a day and work part time where I'm often up and down from my desk or supporting people. To be honest this is about as much activity as I can manage at the minute.
I'm struggling to eat regularly due to lack of appetite but can have emotional eating binges where I will eat a big bag of crisps or chocolate. Despite this I'm still regularly putting on weight and all my bloods keep coming back normal. Any ideas?

Have a think about doing the Fast-diet also known as the 2/5 diet. Don’t start it straight away. But start to plan it. If pos get a book off an online auction site. Or borrow one from your local library. And study the main points / some of it. Get used to how it will be for you. You are already doing a lot more exercise than I do, so I feel this diet could help you. Choose your 2 days carefully and take care not to binge on other days. But you really need to read the book to get the general idea of this diet. Author is Dr. Michael Mosley & Mimi Spencer. Book is called “The Fast Diet”
I lost 4 stone with slimming world and it didn't feel one bit like being on a diet. I saw it as a lifestyle change not a diet. If you try to think of it as a change of lifestyle you are less likely to put the weight back on - diet seems to mean temporary change whilst losing weight then back to old habits once the weight is off. Going to the classes also helped me understand triggers for reaching for the unhealthy foods, stress related eating etc. Good luck hope you find what suits you to help you get back to your desired weight.
Hi Dinkie, I do the slimming world diet too, have lapsed a few times and try to do their version of recipes but standing and cooking / preparing meals from scratch takes it out of me and I know when I'm in pain I comfort eat, but what I wanted to really say was, slimming world always say fill up on free foods, which is ok if you are fit and do a lot of strenuous activities, what they don't say is that there are still calories in free foods and if you don't move so much they stop you from losing weight too, I got round this by having smaller plates and cups and I actually lost 1.5 stones even without exercise over a 6 month period, then my thyroid played up again and I officially regained everything back because I can't lose weight when my thyroid is off and so I comfort eat too and then when my thyroid was better, the weight was still there having to be lost again, but back on the SW challenge as soon as I can 😇 ❤❤
You could always try to cook twice as much and freeze it, which is what I do for those days when i just can't face cooking or plainly just can't be bothered
Like Dinkie I joined slimming world and lost 3 stone it took me a while to get used to the plan but I stuck with it and like Dinkie says you don't feel your missing out on anything it's a lifestyle change. You can still have ur takeaways n treats it's just making the right choices. ive been a target member for 5 months now. Hope you find something that suit's but I would recommend slimming world and only advice I can give is stay for the class as it really helps. Good luck gentle hugs xx
Some medications can cause weight gain, and we often have a tendency to do less when we are in pain, without reducing the food intake, so the weight creeps on.
I got so sick of the weight gain that despite having a new puppy and walking him a lot, I decided to join Slimming World and lost 2 stone.
The next stone is proving difficult to budge but I will keep going.
I joined Slimming World when I put on 3 stones in weight and was told that I was telling lies about what I was eating as I did not lose any weight. I did not know at the time that I was hypothyroid as my bloods kept coming back “normal”. I would check out the “normal” blood results and post the results and ranges on here, if you have not already done so.
One month from a private diagnosis and taking NDT I lost a stone without any change in lifestyle. Once I had managed to get my dosage optimal, and that took some years as I was forced onto T4 and was extremely ill, I followed the 5:2 diet and lost 24lbs. A bad batch of my medication, T3, was enough to stop me losing any weight so medication level was critical for me. I try and do a diet day once a month, which will lose me 2lbs in weight, and also keep me feeling good.
