I have been on esa work related group since 2017 but have recently had another assessment and have been told I’m now being put in the support group. What happens now?

Change of esa group
Congratulations on getting into the support group. It can be very difficult. As said you will get a bit of extra money now and if you were expected to do any work related activities before you do not have to continue to do them any more.
Thank you it’s been a long and frustrating process for many years of getting my doctor whom is no help at all and finally a neurologist confirming it. I would like to know what I do now though and if my money is to change. Do I have to apply for it or is it done automatically?
Hi Ajay575,
I wasn’t aware of that I claimed pip standard care first then claimed esa and put straight into support group.
Hi, this happened to me a while back. My payments increased and i no longer have to go to job centre or get sick notes of doctor.
I am still waiting for my pip decision x
Have they told you why you are in the Support Group? You should be able to find out which descriptor it is. If it is the "Unable to walk 50 metres", then you should re-apply for PIP Mobility component as 50 metres gets you Standard Rate Mobility. 20 metres get you the Enhanced Rate.
Ask DWP for a copy of the Assessor's report. It will say there why they suggested you should be in the Support Group.
The same has happened to me Caz ... I do get PIP ... But i was taken off ESA, put on UC money went down .. I appealed and failed two assessments and now waiting for Tribunal to decide... have also just been put on support group ... awful time and hope you get it sorted soon 😊
