Hi , I haven't written for a while so forgive me if this issue has already been discussed and I've missed it.
I have had fibromyalgia for about 12years.
I have recently been diagnosed with postural hypotension, my blood pressure drops more than 20mm when I stand up causing dizziness and potential fallls. As I also have Tachy/Brady syndrome, which is fast then slow heart rate, and depression, and chronic pancreatitis my GP says that I need all the drugs I'm taking even though they may compound the problem.. I also have many eye infections.
My question is , could the hypotension be due to the fibromyalgia which has had a flare up recently, and any tips for coping apart from taking things even slower 😊.
My GP says he can't give me any medication due to affecting my other problems.
Apologies for going on a bit.

healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., hello there, have you posed this question to your doctor as he /she will give you some in sight into this, your proberly trying to build yourself up gradually from your last flare which is very sensible , I still think pacing yourself during the day having lots of mini breaks is my best way each day, if I have been out in to the shops and done an outside task ie a walk I tend to come home have a cuppa and tail off from pushing myself too hard until the next day. It seems like the meds work for any conditions we may have but are without sometimes the side effect on something else. You can go on as much as you want, it’s a way to chat here and know members are always listening and sometimes giving helpful tips x
You say: "I have recently been diagnosed with postural hypotension, my blood pressure drops more than 20mm when I stand up causing dizziness and potential fallls. "
There are a number of possible causes for the symptoms. I will deal with one possible cause. You need to investigate to see if my suggestion holds truth or not.
When you are standing or walking you are over tense in the muscular department. When you sit in a chair you relax several muscle groups.
Muscle tension squeezes blood vessels. Over time the amount of blood in your body has reduced to accommodate the pressure on the blood vessels. You sit down and muscles relax. This reduces pressure on the blood vessels. You stand up. Because you have muscle groups which have relaxed there is lots of space in the blood vessels for blood. This drains the blood from the head as you stand up.
Before you stand up you must engage all muscle groups. You must get up paying attention to what is happening. You need to see someone to help you reduce the overall tightness in your muscle groups. This will cause more blood to be produced because the blood vessels are not being squeezed by the over tense muscles.
If what I have said is accurate then it is a long term project to rectify the issue. A massage therapist can determine if your muscles are too tight or not.
