I’ve been suffering for years with back & hip pain. Legs keep going numb also pins & needles in both legs & arms. Finally got told about 2mths ago that I had fibromyalgia this was after 2 doctors stating I didn’t show symptoms of it. Then I saw a 3rd doctor about 6mths after the 1st doctor and he finally told me.
It’s been a nightmare trying to find out exactly what is wrong with me.

Some doctors are bit slow to deal with Fibro. But you have found the friendly informative forum so it's not all bad!

Hi Bev, the hard parts done. Now with the support of a good physician you will over come a lot of the issue which will arise, remember each day technology and understanding improves. Personally my doctors have been great after a slow start but they do have to want to learn and understand how it affects our everyday life you will have some good some bad days but always believe and keep strong look on the bright side but most importantly believe in yourself if you don't feel something is working be very clear with them. Thank God I have got the medicines to help me and you will too keep the faith that you will manage your symptoms.
I think there’s about 16 or 18 cant remember exact amount points on your body that a rheumatologist will put a little pressure on as it’s a good way to check for fibro including symptoms so together they generally do a correct diagnosis.
Hi Bev and welcome to the group none of us wants to be in. You have found a great site where we look after each other, listen to rants, offer a shoulder to cry on, give some advice, seek some advice, and generally have discussions on all things fibro and also not fibro as we have many knitters, photographers, jokers and the like to post their latest projects. Took 30 years for me to get a diagnosis. Personally I feel it's just a label, I am still the same person I was pre diagnosis except for now I have the label. As the fibro symptoms are different for most of us it's hardly surprising the medics take their time and usually only diagnose fibro after all other avenues have drawn a blank. It used to be that the diagnosis was made by a rheumatologist but more and more GPs seem to be making the diagnosis. Our local hospital do not treat fibro so I was immediately discharged back to the GP although after a couple of years I did manage to get a referral to the Guy's & St Thomas's fibro clinic and that was helpful in that they advised the GP what steps should be taken next.
Good luck in finding what works for you, and don't be afraid to ask anything however silly you may think it is as believe me we have all probably thought it, asked it before or willing to answer it.

It has taken me 8 months, it's crazy! I don't know how many different health professionals and tests I have had. It just took one great doctor.
