Does this sound like fibromyalgia or not?

Hope it’s okay to post here. I’m wondering if any of you could give me your opinion on these symptoms? They started nearly 6 months ago with sudden daily headaches, eye ache, facial pain and muscle twitching with one or two episodes of numbness in my hands. The headaches subsided and now I’m left with -

.muscle twitching

.swollen glands

.fatigue (I feel like I’ve been hit by a train when I wake up and barely have the energy to move or speak. It’s better once I get up, but throughout the day I can be hit by it and struggle to keep my eyes open)

.pain and stiffness in fingers, wrists, feet and ankles. At its worst when I first wake but lasts to some degree for most of the day

. Reoccurring sore chest/ribs which feels like I’ve strained a muscle although I’ve not done anything to cause it

Full blood count, b12, vit d etc all normal. I have an under active thyroid but it’s well controlled with medication. Any thoughts would really be appreciated!!

I can't say whether you have fibro or not but I can certainly relate to your symptoms and I have been told by my most regularly seen GP that she thinks I have fibromyalgia. I have a number of other issues, too e.g. Lupus, but they wouldn't seem to account for the often bizarre and horrible symptoms I experience in a 'cluster'. I hate the pain but I find the 'shut down' fatigue (ridiculously inadequate name for it, really, but I or others haven't though of anything better) the hardest - it is like being a machine that has been put into 'sleep' mode. The essentials tick over but there is nothing else. That said the pain - which is constantly changing into different things/places - often causes me worry. Is my chest pain really nothing to worry about this time, for example. You have my every sympathy. What has your GP/s said re possible cause.

Your doctor, or a rheumatologist, needs to rule out all other illnesses and health conditions before they can diagnose fibro. Have you seen your blood test results ? I was told by my GP mine were normal, despite B12 marked as low by the lab. Some of my symptoms disappeared with B12 treatment. Always compare your result with the range , given in brackets. To really feel well vitamins need to be optimum but GPs seem to describe low results as normal.

It could take some time to get a diagnosis, I had an 8 month wait to see a rheumatologist so I booked a private appointment.
