I can’t believe how many people are being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and yet so little is known about it. I find this very scary at times 😲

Hi,
So true. I have been suffering with it for decades but it was until recently that I got the diagnose. Many people with fibromyalgia don't show outward signs of the illness and some appear very energetic and fine. There are no blood tests or X-rays etc. that show it, so it could appear that is all in our minds and not a 'real' illness. I find it vey frustrating and difficult to explain to people that although I appear to be fine, I am in constant pain that fluctuates in intensity. It would really help if more is known. Have you worked out a treatment plan?

I agree with u so much. I took feel that I have suffered this for many years. As a child I suffered anxiety and was extremely clinging to my mother it was not an easy time and I think through life’s events it piles on and develops even more. I blamed my age and perhaps pre menopause due to every doctors visit was it’s muscular pain n it will ease . Then it was diabetes to blame too much sugar in the blood n it’s causes the muscular issues. Until I’m the end it reared it’s head when I got in full control of diabetes they could no longer fob me off! I was finally diagnosed in February this year. I m still finding it difficult n have been unable to find a drug that suits n would enable me to go bk to work and after 21 yrs service I’m now getting grief about absence. Only pain relief and Zoloft n Diazepam at the moment n cbd oil I don’t want to continue medicating I think my kidneys are working hard enough xx gentle hugs ur way x
Indeed, I think for many including myself the diagnosis what was actually wrong medically took a lengthy time, everything what was happening fell into place when my doctor told me. I’ve learnt a lot of helpful advice and tips here on the forum so I do hope you find it helpful, healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., ive posted this link above if you would like to lock your posts as only our community can see, take care .
Hello,
I wonder if a 'diagnosis' is made to get rid of people, as they typically don't do any follow ups, they save money.
Its also a syndrome so has many symptoms that are common to other conditions.
I find both the above worrying and often times feel, despite my daily reality, it isn't a real diagnosis. It's a name for a collection of symptoms. Whereas a diagnosis tells you exactly what's wrong and why. I think the medical profession fudge the distinction between naming something and having a definite cause/diagnosis.
i agree with you totally i have got loads of problems I really would like to get to bottom of/actual cause, but instead doc says fibromyalgia. Stuck with the label, then told there is pretty much no cure and medication i have tried has not helped plus then have side effects to contend with as well.
