I believe it can take up to two weeks, but it is well worth the wait.

I was put on 30 mg for one week and then 60 mg , which I have been on for about a year now.

Did the 30mg make any improvement?

I can't remember, but probably not, as I was placed on 60mg almost straight away.

Apart from sleepiness/drowsiness, no, so I take mine at night now, then if it makes me sleepy or drowsy, that's a bonus, and I can get some sleep.

I was put on 60mg straight away , think I said before on a post couple hours before bed works for me , looking back properly a couple of weeks for me.

It is an antidepressant and some of the help could be depression relief. Many can put up with pain better if the depression is improved. I have recommended going up to the maximum dose for several weeks and then reduce or stop the medication. Many medications of this type may not help the first time taking them, but may in the future alone or in combination. @drjohnhaiti

Dear Anna,

Medications such as Duloxetine and the other SSNRI’s may take time, it’s all individual to the patient.

I use Venlafaxine which worked brilliantly for me, but it took three months (ish) to get to maximum efficacy. Take your time and measure the small improvements to begin with, keep a diary. Every improvement is a step in the right direction, even if it’s only being able to take one extra step when walking.

Keep going back and forth to GP/consultant till you get the right dose that works for you.

Good luck,

Rai xxx
