Fibromyalgia?

Hi. A few years ago now I began getting really bad back in the morning and began to find certain mobility tasks very difficult if not impossible. Certain things in the bathroom particularly different/ think most will know what I mean here. The rheumatologist said I had 'moderate' osteoarthritis. I was prescribed tramadol but tried not to take as made me severely constipated. Years later when on a visit to the nurse I mentioned my diagnosis. She told me that there was nothing in my medical file saying I have osteo and to take it up with my GP. When I did he just smiled and said"I wouldn't worry about it". Obviously shocked and not wanting to waste his'precious' time I left. However, I then thought I should have asked him why I had been previously prescribed a strong additive drug as tramadol. As time has progressed I have noticed significant changes to my body both with pain and apoearance. I put the latter down to lack of exercise and aging. I still get a bad back but not every day. However, on occasions I experience pain in fingers, shoulders, knees etc and most recently a bruised feeling in one toe when brushed with bedding along with slight numbness in some fingers. Sorry this is like an essay as my adoring partner has just pointed out! But was wondering if others have had similar things and could this be fibromyalgia. I have had quite a lot of stress during my adult years and have read this can trigger fibromyalgia.

you could try hyaluronic acid 300mg tabs (pure clinica on amazon) for the arthritis, you have to take it every day for at least 4 months to know if it is going to have an effect on your particular type, however it is relatively cheap and has no side effects as it exists in your body normally, and it can be that the lack of it causes arthritis

as you get older, I tried it and it works for me, have been taking it for about 6 years and had no reoccurence of pain.

If you have fibromyalgia generally it will spread all over your body including your legs It not just back pain I’m afraid

Good morning, so sorry to hear how you have been suffering. No one here is qualified to give a medical opinion I'm afraid.

But from my own personal experience from suffering severe back problems i never thought it was down to Fibro. I think more than half the country suffer from a bad back this does not mean they all have fibro thankfully for them.

What can happen once we have a pain problem anywhere in our body. We sometimes just stop moving or using our body so we don't feel the pain that's only natural Imo.

If this has gone on for years it's only logical a lot more parts of our body become weak and painful. This is why people with fibro are told to do mild exercises to keep the muscles strong.

Also I have found has I have become older I'm now a 62 golden oldie lol we do get other painful problems like OA so this just makes everything twice as painful.

But I would say from my own story of 35 years of fibro pain tends to be more wide spread across the body from the start rather than just a bad back.

If I was you I would go back and see your GP has you have obviously become worse and let them know what's going on.

If you find it difficult to tell them write it down. Just put a list in pain order and give it to them to read. I do this often.

One thing I know is no matter what anyone suffers with pain is pain is pain and it hurts. Please feel very welcome to come here and talk with all our members were all in the same boat where pain is concerned. And I am sorry for the late response to this post.

Please have a pleasant day 🤗🤗🤗

Your very welcome :) May I ask when yo last had a back x ray or a full blood count done by your GP? This may be the things you could put on your to ask list. If all comes back normal. And I hope they do. Then maybe it would be time to ask for a rheumatologist appointment. The thing with get a diagnoses for fibro it is an elimination process. Not so much to find out what is wrong with you but what isnt wrong if that makes sense. If all comes back good at the end you more than like would be diagnosed with Fibro. In the meantime please speak with your GP about your pain xx

Hi. Yes last time I had stay was just before I saw the rheumatologist. In the letter he sent to the GP(which I have tried to find) it mentioned something which had shown up I believe it can be associated with certain conditions. Will have to look harder for it. But even though my body is telling me I can't cope and my mind is all airy this morning I have to go to wirk. Will post more about that if I find letter. Think it was B something but don't quite that...
