Golfers elbow 🏌

Hi hope you're all keeping warm , it's so cold here in north wales.

Has anyone here been diagnosed with golfers elbow? It is affecting both my elbows, the left is worse even though I'm right handed.

The GP said it is overuse but I'm not doing more than usual. I feel it's probably fibro related, like most things.

I suffered with golfers elbow for years and yes it was over use!! As a gardener using shears and tree loppers.

My GP would give me steroid injections which did help.

Then we moved and I was refer to physio where she gave me ultra sound treatment!! 3 sessions and bingo...not a twinge for 14 years!!

Hi and thanks for your reply, interesting to know that yours was caused by overuse. I'm having steroid injections from the GP tomorrow. I'll mention physio to him. I'm waiting for a physiotherapy appointment for something else so it would be good to try ultrasound too.

Thanks again xx

It was the pincer movement when you use shears...secateurs gave me carpal tunnel!!

The ultra sound breaks down the old scarring and realigns something"" It was magic.

Oh and we live in the Canary Islands now....warm every day...snow up on Mts but not even a frost down here. About 22 c today!!

Oh that sounds lovely, enjoy the warmth. I've never been there but have friends who have been and really liked it.

Take care X

Thanks for your reply, we've had hail today, great big hailstones too. Some snow flurries but it's only sticking on the hilly areas.

I agree, I also love late spring, bluebells and lilac are my favourite flowers and I love birdsong at that time of year. Take care xx

I have it in both elbows. It was Quite a few years ago when I first noticed it way before I was diagnosed with fm. Most of the time it's not too bad but when I'm in a flare it's worse. I know it's fibro related in my case. I can't think of anything which maybe the cause. The cold doesn't affect me either. I love it. It's the heat which has a detrimental effect on me. We're all so different and yet similar at the same time but it is good to know others have the same problems we maybe can relate to.

Hi Didoliz, thanks for the reply. I feel that mine could be fibro related too, as I've done nothing outside my normal activity to agrivate this area.

Also my fibro has appeared in other new areas this year. Heat bothers me too, I'm always worse In the hottest weather. This illness is an odd one, so much still unknown about it . Take care X

One of the paired 'trigger points' associated with fibromyalgia is located at the elbows but Golfers elbow is an inflammatory condition in its own right. Fibromyalgia isn't an inflammatory condition and so the two are not associated with one another.

Had both Golfers elbow & Tennis elbow for 13 years. Had every treatment doctor and Rheumatologist could think of. In 2011 had surgery for the Tennis elbow, took 18 months after surgery before I had results. still hurts at times, but much better than it was.

Golfers elbow in left arm got so bad I had to get rid of my car and buy a cheap 3rd hand automatic, which has helped. Apparently they cannot do surgery for Golfers elbow, so I put up with it, because nothing works. Also had to switch from walking sticks to rollator.

Doc thinks it is Fibro related though no-one confirmed that.
