Coming off pregabilin cont.

Went to the doctors today and said that the withdrawal was bad so doc. Has suggested going back up 50mg until after Xmas and then start again by going down 25mg a month.

After all the sweating, shaking, running to the loo, and all the other joys of withdrawal that I have gone through I feel that going back up 50mg is giving in. I just don't want to feel a failure. So big decision to make, go up or stay at the level I am on now until after Xmas.

You might have tried to reduce the dose of Pregablin by too large an amount. I would personally take the doctor's advice. Good luck.x

Hi there yes I’ve experienced some of this symptoms after withdrawing from medication, like rose wine says go with your doctors advice , I do also agree with red apple-5 my local pharmacist lady has given me very good advice and has even phoned me on my home phone when I’ve not been able to go out. Don’t ever feel a failure most of us rely on help from meds to get us through there’s no shame in that , personally I have found sometimes it’s been trial and error along the way. Doctor might also be thinking as the Xmas period is looming ,January might be a less stressful time and quieter month to try dropping down , has he/she explained yet how you go about tapering off properly or do you have to go back for another appointment, take care and wishing you well when you get to this stage x

Hi I am trying to come down on my dose of Pregabalin and it's hard. I agree with your doctor, but good on you for you're effort to come off it. How about going up by 25 mg and see if that helps. I wish you all the best. Lola

Is there still a medication with drawal phone line? It used to exist for coming off prescription meds. I will look into this and report back.

Hi, I have been reducing my pregablin for a year and a half now. After lots and lots of research about it last year I decided to reduce by just 25mg once a month. I used to have 225mg in the morning and the same dose at night. I read the best is to reduce your morning tablets first then onece off those to then reduce your night time. I decided to take only 25mg away each month so it gives my body chance to get used to the lower dose over a longer period of time. I am currently only just taking 75mg each night but the last drop 100mg to 75mg was the worst withdrawals I have gone through, such a bad stomach and feeling terribly sick.....so I have decided to not reduce at the end of December as don't want to feel so sick over Christmas and new year.....I will take my next drop at the end of January and see how I go. I did read last year that the lower you get on your doses the harder it is and i certainly agree with this seeing what happened to me the last time.

I would certainly listen to your drs advice and go back to 50mg until after xmas as you dont want to spend it I'll, maybe do a drop the 2nd week of January and see how you go.

There is a fb page Lyrica survivors (pregablin support) and alot of folk on there have some really good advice to help you come off this horrendous medication. They talk about water titration which may be the way I have to go if it turns out the 25mg drop is going to be too much at this low dose stage..... hope this helps xXx

Thanks everyone, decided just to go up by 25g and have felt much better even the sweats have stopped. So in future I am going to reduce by 25g a month, that will mean my next reduction is after Christmas. It's so nice to have all your support in this.

Well done reducing the meds im currently off tramadol it's hard to give up something we have come to rely on but one positive about fibro is that it makes us so much stronger as people because of what we have to deal with every day wishing you all the luck and love xxx
