Anyone issues with work and equipment, reduced sickness pay?

Work are supposed to have supplied me adapted furniture as per Access to Work but are dragging their heels. Result is I have been off work for 2 weeks now and supposed to go back this morning....I have checked my work emails and alas there is nothing there (no surprises!)

I will now have reduced wages and I don't know what to do, do I stay off work and take the pay cut or do I go back this morning and hope they sort it out soon.

My head is a mess and to top it off, I have been awake every 40 mins needing a bleedin wee and no sign of REM sleep!

Rant over, hope everyone has a lovely day/evening and the pain is a little less for you all ♥️💕

Hey Jenny sorry to hear that your work haven’t sorted out the reasonable adjustments you need ... I think you need to chase them up again just as a reminder - I can’t suggest what to do about going back as only you know about your body and how it’s going to affect you but if being off and the cut in wages is adding to your stressful situation then maybe go in and see how it goes .

I understand how difficult it is trying to continue with life and avoiding making yourself worse etc but you need to find what works for you .

Regarding the work adjustment have you spoken to acas they may be able to suggest your legal situation in what happens if they don’t supply the equipment etc

Wishing you all the best today

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to get in touch with ACAS today and I have emailed my manager to chase up the equipment. I'm not going in, the thought of the flare up that will occur is enough to make it happen, oh the joys of fibromyalgia!

Have you got correspondence from OH stating what needs to be done? Your employers owe you a duty of care and that includes presumably your equipment to enable you to do your job. Would have thought health and safety comes into this realm. Your health and your safety - you need the equipment to be able to do your job safely and without damaging your health.

I would query with work when it is likely to happen. If it is too long in the future then get back to Access to work and ask them to intervene. Do you have an HR department because they would be your first port of call. I would do it calmly in the first instance and follow it up with a letter referring to the conversation and recording there what is to happen then there can be no mistake that the conversation happened. Explain to HR if you have one that you are the one losing your salary and they are losing a worker who could do the job if the right equipment is in place. Good luck let us know how it goes.

Thanks Dinkie, that's brilliant advice. I have been chasing with them for weeks but have had nothing but trouble and set backs since I first had to take time off due to the flare ups. I even came close to submitting a grievance against a line manager but thankfully they changed my manager to one a bit more sympathetic. Hopefully my manager can chase it and sort it cos work is one of the last bits of independence I am clinging to with my fingertips!

I will let you know what happens ♥️

Don't give up I've been there. Had to wait ages for my chair and when it did arrive other employees kept using it and when I got cross the boss said it wasn't exclusively for me - excuse me OH said I needed it, not the other employees. He then accused me of being selfish and possessive. I said if they wanted the chair they could have the symptoms that required me to ask for the chair - that shut him up.

Omg that's horrendous!! Got to love idiotic small minded fellow humans 🤬 I am lucky that I work from home so I only have to fight the dog for the seat haha!
