Hi my sister has chronic fibromyalgia she is house bound most days with the chronic pain and muscle seizure she has painful swellings ,headahes and finds it difficult to move without being in pain . She has been told no pain relief Will help she has to sleep on a blow up mattress and can't sit in a chair for long without the pain . Her doctor doesn't help she has not been referred to any other medical specialists and is so depressed feeling there is no one that can help. She is 47 and feels she can no longer live like this with the constant pain and confusion and feeling of entrapment ,can anyone suggest anything we can do or ask the gp to do to help . She feels her life is over

I am sorry to hear how your sister is struggling with her pain. May I suggest she talks to another GP if she can. If she feels she is not been listened to maybe she could ask to speak to the surgery manager and explain she is not happy with how she is been treated. Many members have had to actually change surgeries to find the help they need.

I there I’m glad she has your support I agree with dizzytwo perhaps you could look into making a few phone calls on her behalf and seek out a different surgery, so hard to get the right support but keep at it , , I truly hope you get somewhere and like the others have said more experienced help is needed in the way of rheumatologist. Physio etc , take care x

I know the pain. Please tell her that her life is not over. God loves her and don't let the pain take over her life. I deal with the pain everyday. I pray all day everyday asking God to give me strength to deal with all this pain and He does. I know it can get overwhelmed and frustrated. As the scripture says by His stripes we are healed. Even though we still have the pain we are healed. Just have to live by faith and I know it can be hard we just have to believe. I'm praying for your sister.

My doctors told my that a CBT course/counseling for fibro is available for some suffers, im hoping to do it after i,ve finished my present couseling for my other conditions.

I went from a athletic boxer to a broken women overnight! The pain woke me one morning and i felt that my lower body was in hell! Sounds dramatic, but its true! Its a total living nightmare! I had a mri scan, that showed nothing! Went back to docs and he gave me pregablin, it help a bit dont get me wrong, but the pain never leaves you.

I know exactly what your sisters suffering is like, and i feel for her its a total strain! Get her to another doctor mention the cbt therapy and if your in the uk Mind the mental health charity offer counseling for free, they might be able to send someone out to her to help her cope with her depression etc, it does have a devastating effect on you mentally, do keep me posted lass!:-):-)
