Hi, I’m a new comer. I saw a rheumatologist for the first time yesterday and was diagnosed with Central Sensitivity Syndrome which he said explains all of the symptoms I’ve been having for the past 10 months. These are multiple joint pains, extreme fatigue, heartburn, IBS, migraine, dry eyes, nose and mouth, itchy skin and brain fog. I’ve not been well enough to work now for 6 weeks which is really worrying me. I’d had lots of blood tests, and a scans and X-rays in the run up to this and the results were some small vessel brain disease, osteoarthritis, and a mildly positive ANA. I was told that there is no specific treatment apart from exercise, which I am doing already and managing my fatigue and that the cocodamol I was prescribed by my GP will only make it worse. However, since I saw him, I’ve now had the results of a CRP blood test which was 52. Could anyone advise me please if this might change my likely diagnosis? I thought that Fibromyalgia wasn’t usually an inflammatory condition. I’m so confused and worried, I just want to be able to go back to work and get on with my life again. I’d be so grateful for any advice anyone can offer me of what to do next!

Raised CRP with Fibromyalgia?
what is your immflamatory rate score as mine is 72 and I definitely have fibromyalgia but being tested for an autoimmune condition as well being possible sjogrens which came back inconclusive. such a frustrating place to be in as I know something else is wrong. xx
Hi
It is possible to having something else going on that is causing raised inflammation levels what did thay say the small vessel brain disease was it Vasculitis ,
Can I also ask your age as that could be relevant ?
Thanks Rose I’m 51
Hi
Have thay looked at Poly Myalgia Rheumatica
Its autoimmune and a type of Arthritis no test for it
Just go on bilateral pain normally neck, shoulders ,back of thighs can effect feet and hands .And inflammation levels may be high .
And if you do have Vasculitis in your head PMR is associated with this
Thay may have ruled it out due to your age .but thier are a lot of people under 55 who
are being diagnosed .
Just may be looking up to see if you think this could be a possibility ,
Its also possible to have PMR along with Fibro
hope you get some answers soon
Hi HAM67,
If you’re a woman I would consider perimenopause/menopause and migraines (don’t necessarily include headaches) as differential diagnosis.
CRP levels can rise above average due to minor issues so one reading is not a diagnostic criterion.
I would be more inclined to say you have fibro, I have fibro all same symptoms as yourself and fibro is inflammation, i suffer head every day, cant take anti inflammatory due to dudonal ulcer but have anti inflammatory cream voltarol, it actually works.
Have you ruled out low thyroid ? As every cell in the body needs the thyroid hormone T3 - the result needs to be towards top of the range - so there is enough to go around. The brain has first call. Sadly rarely tested in the NHS. Also levels of B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD need to be good and not bumping along the bottom of the range ! These tests are rarely routine and have to be requested.
I am not a Medic - just a Hashimotos gal with a B12 issue due to surgery. You can click onto my username to read my Bio ... and yes I still have pain around all major joints and into the muscles ...
