Hi I have taken antidepressents and found them helpful in the past. You can try these tablets and if no help the doctor can help you to come off them. You have nothing to lose by trying them. Alternatively Holland and Barratt sell herbal remedies for anxiety and depression such St. John's wort. The staff are well informed about what to take and contra indicated drugs for what prescripition drugs. Hope everthing goes well for you.

Same. Not all medications work for all patients though.

Are you able to say why you have been tried with antidepressants??

So many i cnt remember all, pregablin, amitrypline, citalopram, venlafaxine, sertraline, duloxetine, fluxotenine, noritriptiline, gavenpentine loads more. I av paroxetine now but not sure if i shud try it

Anxiety and panic are horrible, I had months of that after a bereavement.

It might be worth trying other things alongside antidepressants. You could try YouTube for relaxation or hypnotherapy relaxation. Start with something short, just 5 minutes or so. As you play it just concentrate on your breathing. Just in and out, as if it's the only thing in the world to think about. By doing this a few times a day you'll 'train' yourself to become more relaxed. Just don't play any hypnotherapy programmes while you're driving, or in a car when anyone else is driving.

I qualified as a hypnotherapist years ago and have thought since developing fibro I could do free hypno for anyone with fibro and related symptoms locally.

I found Rescue Remedy helped, too.

Hi there , anxiety /depression I have had both and yes I agree when it comes to meds some differently do not suit, setraline made my anxiety worse, have been on duloxtene one tab 60mg for few months and different feel this 0ne got my anxiety under control, think my symptoms came about previous as had not been diagnosed with Fibro /cfs I couldn’t work out what was wrong but at least now getting both diagnosis last year I can come to terms . I hope your recent tab helps but if in time you still are not happy go back , i now have a doctor I’m confident in but previously I didn’t take care x

It depends on the individual. I'm on sertraline for anxiety and depression and it works wonders on my anxiety but I haven't noticed much improvement with the depression to be honest. Talk to your doctor about your concerns otherwise they will just assume you're taking it if you don't tell them otherwise. If you've tried a lot of different medications and not found any of them effective your doctor should probably try a different approach, maybe therapy, tests, ruling out other underlying conditions. For example I've got ADHD and that doesn't help with the anxiety. Obviously anxiety and depression are common with fibromyalgia but if nothing's helping don't be afraid to ask your doctor about other potential causes and treatments. It's your body, your health and your life and your doctor is your first point of contact for all your health needs. Of course they are the experts and quite rightly they make the decisions but countless times I have gone to the doctor and said I think I have this problem, can we try this? More often than not I've been onto something and if I hadn't been proactive in my own care I would probably still be suffering from undiagnosed conditions and feeling helpless. Do some swatting up and grab the bull by the horns! Good luck finding what works for you x

I’m in mirztapine amongst other tablets and they are helping me. I never wanted to take antidepressant but got to a stage with all the pains and exhaustion and feeling like I’m 100 instead of 40 finally got to me and couldn’t stop crying. Then back in June I snapped with work etc and in phone completely sobbing to the doctor. Who signed me off for 3weeks and put me in mirztapine. I take at night to help sleep a bit as make me drowsy. But if dry mouth sometimes but nothing else that me or my husband aware off.

Just have to try and go from there. Hope your work for you. Gentle hugs x
