hi there..........i have esa support, full pip, and my hubbie gets oap, is it worth claiming carers benifit?

Depending on how old you are you can't claim carers allowance once you reach 65

It is also means tested so will affect your ESA

im 53 and the hubbie is 68 but it would be me that needs the carer

In some cases you may not be able to get Carer’s Allowance paid to you if you have another ‘over lapping’ benefit paid at the same or a higher amount; benefits that commonly overlap are State Pension. .....

If you are on State Pension, you cannot be paid Carers Allowance as well. It is only available to working age people who cannot work full-time due to their caring responsibilities
