I use an all terrain rollator with suspension. I can sit down when I need and it helps with balance. Has a useful basket and folds up too. I got mine from Careco. Other than that I use elbow crutches or sticks depending on how good/bad my balance is on any given day. My sticks are brightly coloured and co-ordinated to what I wear as it makes me feel better if I have to use them!
I would say it all depends on the severity of any mobility problems you have, but Dinkie has given you some good advice.
You could ask for a referral to an Occupational Therapist - your GP will be able to do this for you, and in some areas you can self refer. They can give you an assessment and then recommend what they feel would suit you best. x
I was referred to occupational therapist but they couldn't safely offer me anything. So I don't want to be in wheelchair chair all the time so I hang onto my husbands arm or sister when out and stop lots of times to rest
I did get a walking from on 4 wheels with a basket and seat but it makes my upper back ache, maybe i take it too far not sure so i will ask physio today when i go hydro, have you ever been offered hydrotherapy? it has helped me keep walking and does do some muscle pumping, the water is 32 degree s - lovely , no swimming allowed just a programme of excercise, at my pool i see them, helping stroke victims with good results.
