Remember when you fill in the forms and attend the face to face that they are not really interested in your diagnosis. PIP works differently from DLA. It is about a list of Daily Living and Mobility Activities and what you can do and what you cannot do. They look at whether you can do something reliably (defined as repeatedly, safely and taking no longer than double the time a non-disabled person would take).

When filling in the forms there are lots of traps. Avoid them by reading widely and planning your answers. There are various guides that can help. Benefits and Work produce the most comprehensive. Contact Janet the FMA UK Benefits Advisor who has access to these or buy them yourself by joining Benefits and Work.

Other Guides include

drive.google.com/file/d/0Bw...

The points scores and activities are all listed here

I have posted a lot about PIP so if you read my posts and replies to other people, you will get lots of other handy tips. Click on my smiley face and that takes you to the page where there are buttons for Posts and Replies.

Hi hun- how far into your applic. are you? The secret seems to be how to show explain how your illnesses affect you on a daily basis, not a list of illnesses but what they do to you and how they affect you every day, because I sometimes get 'brain fog" I keep a word document stored in my pc of everything (incl personal hygeine and the like) leave no stone unturned,,is it assessment time?? Dont be put off by other memebrs having a bad exoperience and have someone with you when you are assessed... Good luck keep inotuch. xx Nursge gladys Emanuel (o-pen all hours)

Hi

Keep a diary for a few days of how you feel how much help you have had doing things how long its taken you and how much pain you have been in doing task how log you have had to rest after .

Use this to complete form also send as evidence

Do one section a day and think outside the box only focus on what thay are asking

For example

Personal care

Mention aids Bath seat, long handled back brush, disabled access shower ,electric bath lift ,Toilet frame raised toilet seat, Grab rails .shower stool

How long it takes you to do each task .

I have to sit on my shower stool after I manage to get to the bathroom for 30min to get my breath back and wait for the pain to settle .

I need someone to support me to get into the shower and turn it on for me as my fingers cramp and I am unable to manage controls .

I am unable to raise my arms to wash my hair as it causes to much pain I find even the effort of washing very painful on my skin and often have to just sit and let the water go over me.

I don't have the energy to dry myself so need support with this it takes 20min as I have to be gently patted dry due to pain.

I then have to take pain meds and lay on my bed until I feel I can manage the next steep which is getting dressed .

I do need prompting to shower on a bad day as its too much of a effort and I need prompting 4 days a week .

One a very bad day I am unable to shower at all and on a better day it will take me from start to finish 1 hour 15 min.

On the section it asks about any other information

Support Worker ,Care Manager .Partner or friend can comment but need to be relevant

hope this helps
