I’ve just found out I’m going to be a grandmother😱😱😱😱😱

I want to get healthy so what would be the best form of exercise I could start with, I have osteoporosis as well.

Wonderful news. With osteoporosis you will need to avoid high impact exercise. I don't know how much exercise you do now but I would start with stretching exercises and slowly build up now far you can walk but preferably on sitter surfaces like grass. I don't know if you like water but exercises in water really help as there isn't so much stress on the joints.

I am sure there will be alot of picking up and cuddles involved so I would try and build up your core muscles. When I was initially Ill with fibro I know my back was really tight and extremely painful as was my lower back but with slowly building up the core muscles my back is certainly less painful.

Perhaps you could ask your GP to refer you to a physio for help with this. Whatever you do slowly build up as our bodies don't like sudden strenuous bursts of exercise. Good luck.x

Congratulations x I would start with Yoga, it will not only benefit you physically but mentally aswell. Also gentle walking would be a good starting point, do what you can manage each day and push yourself just a few steps further, build it up slowly. Just don’t push too far otherwise you will set yourself back the next day xx

Hi Lynn , my GP recommended swimming.I am not the best swimmer so take my “noodle “, I do exercises in the pool ., & some gentle swimming. What I’m saying is one doesn’t have to be a swimmer to go to the pool!

Yes I used to love swimming but it’s finding a pool warm enough as the cold is hell I tried it last 3 years ago but it was too cold for me it triggered a flare up which lasted a few weeks so I’m wary of what the temperature will be

its hard to say. My granddaughter is 6 and I've never been able to keep up with her. Is better now shes a bit older but a couple of years ago if she wanted to take off that would have been it. No chance of running. I cycle (now with an electric bike) tai chi is good and you can get home DVDs. It seems funny there's no exercise advice/sheets around for us. Good luck and congrats xx
