Hi it is a condition that affects the space between the toes and the ball of your feet,, they are like little tumours that develop in the nerves but are not cancerous. i have had steroid injections once which helped for a short while but there isn't a lot that can be done unfortunately. I have good and bad days, on the bad days the pain is so severe i cannot walk. thanks for your reply :)

Hi Annette, I am sorry to hear your suffering from Morton's Neuroma as well as fibro. I must admit I have never come across this before so I had a quick Google. Sounds painful and just what you don’t need, another painful condition! Also gave me pause for thought though as I see it can be caused by wearing high heels which I have done for many years being vertically challenged!

I wouldn’t be surprised if there were other members who also have this condition so hopefully they will respond and share their experience with you. However I notice you haven’t locked your post. You don't have to but many of our members are not keen on responding to unlocked ones therefore you are likely to receive more replies if you do, as it stops the whole thread being read by internet search engines. Instructions on how to do this can be found on the link below but if you get stuck please don’t hesitate to ask for help.

In the meantime, welcome to our friendly forum, you will find lots of help and support from our lovely members plus there is plenty of useful information and links on our main site so you may like to take a look at this:

Hi nettyjacks,

I looked it up your condition and oh my it sounds very painful. You already have a lot to cope with having Fibromyalgia without the added pain of Morton's Neuroma.

There is always someone here I you need to chat.

Take good care,

Mags 😀

Hi nettyjacks,

If you don't mind me asking, how does the condition affect your feet exactly and how was it diagnosed?

nettyjacks profile image
nettyjacks in reply tomattoid-mags

Hi yes no problem,, I had ultrasound on my both feet,, which was requested by my Rheumatologist, it was confirmed there and then what it was. its hard to explain the pain as it varies for instance if i am my feet for more than an hour i get sharp shooting pains in the top of my feet and pain in my toes.

mattoid-mags

Ah ok I see.

My feet are always sore, they never stop hurting. It would be all over my feet but the bottoms would be the sorest parts.

I have always assumed it is down to my fibromyalgia but sometimes I wonder if there is something else going on.

nettyjacks in reply tomattoid-mags

Oh no, well to be honest I got Viral Meningitis about 10 years ago and the pain started in my feet after that,, first they was saying it was chronic pain due to the nerve damage i had after the illness,, but never really had any idea what it was until i seen a Rheumatologist who then diagnosed me with the Morton's Neuroma. You should really go and get it checked x

It probably is my fibromyalgia then.

Oh my, it sounds like you have been through a lot and I really feel for you.

Any time you want a wee chat, just give me a wee shout- I'll usually be here floating about the site 👍😁

Hi I had this condition several years ago and you have my sympathy. It is an extremely painful one. It made it difficult for me to walk or put any pressure on the sole of my foot. I had an ultrasound scan and was told there was nothing there but I insisted I was in agony and saw an orthopaedic doctor who eventually gave me a steroid injection. It was the first time in around 12 months I could walk normally and the relief was instant. I haven't had any problems since then and I hope you get it sorted out soon lol x

Hi I’m good just now. A few niggles but getting by. I also have osteoporosis and have had broken thumb/ribs but that pain from the Morton’s Neuroma was unbearable. Touch wood never again x

Hi nettyjacks , welcome to this forum. Yes I have fibromyalgia was diagnosed in 94. Starting having the symptoms in 92. Fibromyalgia likes to invite other conditions into your body. So the longer you have it the more diagnosis. There are a lot of friendly people on here.

Hi yes it certainly does indeed one thing after another. do you have medication to cope , X

Sarahvit profile image
Sarahvit in reply tonettyjacks

Medications to treat the symptoms. Well the thyroid medication to replace what my thyroid would produce if it was still there. I had thyroid cancer in 05 so they removed the whole thing.

Hi, I have Morton’s Neuroma in both feet. I had steroid injections which made my feet worse because caused tissue loss. I had surgery on both feet to remove offending nerves and neuromas. It was a very painful operation and recovery and now 8 years I am struggling with it again. I was a ballet dancer and runner amongst many other sports/ activities I did. I had bunions removed too.

I am now suffering with plantar fasciitis in addition to Morton’s Neuroma! Rest helps and ice packs are a must!

I was only diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 3 yrs ago and I’m finding my feet and legs/hips so painful.

Hope this helps x
