May I ask you what you mean by burning, tingling sensation in your brain?
Have you seen a neurologist about these sensations?
I was taking gabapentin/Neurontin but it was discontinued due to its side effects. It has a bad press I am afraid. If you google the side effects of gabapentin and pregabelin you will come across new research as I did just five minutes ago!!!
I mentioned pregabelin as well because both drugs have been found to damage brain synapses. I can provide the link but unsure if that is allowed on here .
The burning sensation is like tingly .I've had scans all clear. Been on amtrypline they worked for a while. Now just started gabapentin but now I know side effects I shall not continue. I'm having a nerve block next Tuesday so fingers crossed. Thanks for the reply have a good day
Not for me it didn't. I was only on 400mg day. Max dose is over 2000 per day. After phased withdrawal from Tramadol from 400mg per day to 100 and prn, Gabapentin was upped to 900mg per day. For me horrendous side effects, couldn't tolerate. Gradually came off those to 200mg per day. Go upped to 300mg but really need methotrexate upping instead. Making do with Depomedrone cortisone injections every 3 months till I can get to see consultant. Be aware gabapentin puts weight on. Lost half a stone when reduced them. Good luckx
I never had that hun. I'm no longer on gabapentin as it stopped working after a month, I'm now on pregabalin
I tried gabapentin but it made me sick. Sounds a lot like migraines to me especially if you had a clear MRI like me.
The tingling is always a migraine for me.
ShonkieBarker64 I don’t know if gabapentin will relieve burning tingleing sensation. I have had the occasional shooting pain go through my brain but what you are describing doesn’t settle right me. Have you seen a neurologist about it? I know fibro isn’t normal but this isn’t normal and the fact you are feeling it in your brain is very unsettling to me. Please get into the neurologist about this.
Hi I'm under neurologist. Had scans all clear.i still think it's a tumour and ask for another scan but refused. Now they saying it could be nerve damage.
I would seek out a second opinion. I’m going to look for another neurologist the next time I feel I need one. I’m not to happy with the one I have he blames everything on dyslexia coming back when you age. I had over came it by age 13. And self esteem issues in my mid 20’s. Was was an RN and licensed minister up to the fibro fog stepped in along with the other symptoms and other diagnosis that interfered with my life. I use to function at a higher level than I do now. This scares me because of dementia and Alzheimer’s runs in the family. I would seek out that second opinion regarding on the symptoms you are having. Please write again with any updates.🤗💕🦋
I was on the drug for neuro pain to send signals for damage done to the nerves from breast cancer 2000 for 6 years 12000 per day came off till 2011 lung cancer went back onto them till 2014 then again till now, 2017 when i had a new hip. all on the right hand side. But this time im on 1 tab a day of 300. with other pain relief. if i had side effects i didnt notice so i have come to the conclusion zero brain cells..... lol lol... mind you i thought my intellect was due to age... now it could be the meds...interesting.
I'm on gabapentin and I have what the doctor calls migraines. But it's only on the right side and goes right down my body like stroke like symptoms. Still under investigation. Gabapentin does help I find though.
I suppose it does. Yes
