Fibromyalgia Patches.

This is my first post (Well actually it is my second, but the first seems to have lost itself somewhere on the internet, so I will try again.

I heard today that there is a new patch out for Fibromyalgia. I tried to Google for information, but nothing came up. So, I am trying this method of communication and asking all fellow sufferers if anybody has heard of these patches?

Take care to all and sleep well.

Just so you don't think no one is replying I will , but can't help I'm afraid. I think I have read about others using patches on here (not sure if new though), so hope you get some more replies in the morning. Best wishes.

Hi lolocat,

I did Google again under the heading of Fibromyalgia Medication Patches and this time I had a result.

Other patches I tried from prescription were Morphine based, but had terrible hallucinations and had to stop.

This new patch is Cannabis based and supposedly the side effects are not the same as taking Cannabis in others forms.

I am still looking into this and if anybody has further information, I would be pleased to receive a reply.

Enjoy your day x

I'm sure I've come across this, but can't remember where at the moment. I have a feeling that it was on an American site, but that can't be right because I can remember thinking that it seemed expensive at £x per patch. (Can't even recall the amount!) It was based on CBD, so maybe on a site selling CBD oil products?

I'll try to have a think and let you know if I come up with it. Sorry to be so vague!!

I found this

hempbotanics.com/collection...

but I'm not sure if it's what I saw before.

Hi

Oh! What a wonderful thought, a patch that will make everything go away!

I suspect you are thinking of pain relief patches. I wear butrans 15mcg which is a morphine like drug. The doctor prescribed them prior to my hip replacement but I'm hoping I can stay on a low dose for my fibro.

Best wishes

Hi and thanks for your response.

This is not the Butrans patch which is Morphine based. this a new patch based on Cannabis. It enters the blood stream via the patch and it supposedly eases the pain and inflammation without the without the side effects of taking Cannabis in other forms.

I was also on 20 mgs of Butrans for pain, but had terrible hallucinations and therefore I am wary of taking anything very strong which can cause side effects.

I did Google again and found it under the heading of Fibromyalgia Medication Patches. Perhaps others could give their opinion on this.....Hope so!

I had butrans @5mcg patch. But the nausea made me stop. Even though I had an anti sickness drug as well.

Some doctors don't like opioids. They say that it's not very effective and addictive.

Welcome to the community! :)

We hope you find the community useful to share your experiences of Fibromyalgia in a supportive environment in the hope we can all help each other as we all live with this chronic illness on a daily basis. Please do check out our mother site for further information on Fibro at fmauk.org and also you may like to read the following information about how to lock your posts for future reference;

To answer you question, I also 'googled' as I had not heard of any news about pain patches in the UK. Did you hear about this via a UK source or see an advert somewhere? The only news article I can find for the 28th Sept, Fibromyalgia and pain relief patches is Canadian about a company called Viaderma trying to patent a product for many illnesses.

Does this sound like it? Otherwise, I am a little stumped to be honest as haven't seen anything on the news ;)

I look forward to your reply

Emma :)

Hi Emma,

I was at the pain clinic yesterday when somebody mentioned that a new patch was on the market for Fibromyalgia. I've now searched Google again under the search of Fibromyalgia Medication Patches and found some information.

Whether this is something from America or Canada, I don't know (Both countries seem to think they have cures for more or less everything) lol

I telephoned my pharmacy and they are going to search it for me.

The patch is not Morphine base, it is Cannabis based which makes me rather unsure because I thought Cannabis was still illegal in this Country.

I am at the pain clinic again next week and I will try to enquire further.

Enjoy your day x

This is the one I was thinking of

but it's sold out.

Hi again,

I had a look at the link you sent me and thank you for sending.

However, I feel I am entering another world trying to chase these Fibromyalgia Patches, especially as it is Cannabis based.. It seems as though there are other patches that contain Cannabis and I'm not too happy about buying anything that contains Cannabis off the internet.

I think I will wait until I either go back to the pain clinic or see my doctor who should be able to help with research.

Enjoy your day x.

Yeah - There are things like Fentanyl patches, but I have not heard of anything specified for Fibro... Sorry - Welcome to the board

Hi I know which ones you mean. They have cannabis in which still makes them illegal so o can’t use them as I’m a detective and I’m regularly drug/alcohol tested 😩

Welcome to posting I am sure cyberspace eats some of ourcontributions.

Fibromyalgianewstoday.com have mentioned that it is due for release soon. As with any cannabis based med our countries rules might be different as to whether we can obtain these when they do come out.x

Hi there the only patches I have been given are butec or trans. I believe they are morphine based. They are really good and worked well. The only problem i experienced was an horrible rash, skin breaking, bleeding and swelling around the area of patch. I tired the two I mentioned above but experienced the same systoms.

They really helped with the pain though so not all bad.

My advice would be to ask doctor or consultant for a trial.
