Hi Ive been researching.

Living in the UK Cannabis or related Cannabis products are strictly illegal. I have asked my GP if there is any type of Cannabis that he could prescribe. He rudely told me no way.

Online I have seen a website called CBD Brothers the site has a lot of positive reviews about how the capsules/oil can help pain. I am just about at the end of my tether and would try anything so I contacted them by email but sadly they are not allowed by law to recommend which oil would be good for me. They suggested I look on Facebook (I don't have a Facebook account) as there are a lot of recommendations on there.

Has anyone tried CBD and if so how do you tell which oil is going to be best for your particular illness?

I am currently on a low dose of Morphine and Pregabalin (which I am convinced doesn't work) Co-Codamol and Meloxicam for pain. I am still in terrible pain.

I have even thought about trying to buy Cannabis and use it in food as I don't smoke, but I wouldn't know what I was buying.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking into this. I've had a series of various tests (mostly blood) which have all come back normal, although I feel far from "normal". I have one more test pending which is highly likely to be normal but is being done to rule out the "testable" conditions. My registered GP has mentioned the possibility that I have fibromyalgia and CFS and the Dr I've seen today (due to symptoms worsening considerably) has said the same. I've heard some positive things about cbd and hemp. I've also had a look on Amazon at capsules. Do you have an account with Amazon at all?

Hello,

Thank you for replying. Yes I do have an Amazon account and I recently tried some capsules containing Hemp but they really gave me a bad stomach so I had to stop them. There was no let up in the pain.

Oh that's a shame you had a bad experience 😞 Do you mind me asking what you bought? I'm no medical expert but was the dose and active ingredient too high? I was looking at some by Lindens which I think are around £7.

I am sorry but I can only recall the Gel Capsules had the word Hemp in the title.

They were about £15 from Amazon.

you can get cbd oil from Holland and Barret a high street heath shop.....I take a few drops at night along with tramadol and amitryptiline... it helps with the pain and I sleep a little better cbd oil is not illegal as they take out the chemical that would give you a 'high'....😊 xx

I think it won't be too long before we shall be taking a Cannabis oil/tablet and will be wondering what all the fuss was about to make it legal....much more natural than all the drugs we take......Sleep well .....xxx

CBD oil is legal and can be bought in this country and stopped after two months as didn't see any difference for me. It has the active ingredient THC removed which is present in cannabis. The THC has to reach a certain temperature to be released hence smoking it. It can be used in edibles but cannot be put straight in food. It is made into cannabis butter which is then used in the making of things like cookies or brownies. I believe this would be much safer than morphine or tramadol, the pharmaceutical industry may not wish this as not in their financial interest.

Hi Heltadekta, I've using the Blue oil from the CBD Brothers for over a year now, after I was taken off cocodamol and told I could just take the occasional dose of paracetamol - not funny! They have been a lifesaver to me. I believe the oil in Holland and Barrett is much weaker, hence why some people don't notice a difference.

I use either the Blue oil (high concentration 25%) and place a couple of drops under my tongue and hold it there for 3 mins, or if I'm away I use the Blue capsules. I use them morning and night and sometimes at lunchtime, if I'm bad. The oil is quicker acting than the capsules.

I have tried the Green paste in the syringe and use a piece the size of three grains of rice on a chocolate drop as it's easier to hold in my mouth. I end up using much more, because it's only 14%. I also think it has a stronger taste.

I can't recommend the CBD Brothers enough.

Oh thank you so much for your reply. I am so glad youre getting relief and I am definitely going to order some of the Blue oil. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I hope you get the same results. It is subtle, not wow instant pain relief, but a subtle dawning that the pain has subsided. I up the dose when I'm in a flare. I've not had any mouth ulcers since I started taking it and the redness in my gums has gone too. It might not work for everyone, but for me it works wonderfully.

Andrew from CBD Brothers is a genuine good guy. Their CBD comes from organic plants grown in the Netherlands. They will send you a card with your oil showing the chemical composition of the oil. They are in the process of setting up their own laboratory (testing is currently done off site).

They have also applied for a full MHRA (Medical and Healthcare Regulatory Agency) license, where as most UK sellers are going for a food supplement licence, but under proposed regulations they will only be allowed to sell products under 20%. CBD Brothers will be able to continue to sell medical strength CBD.

I have a family member also using CBD Brothers and he is also finding it very helpful.

Where would I be able to get this blue oil from please? I am on oramorph, zo morph , gabapentin x5 coz they to tight to give me pregablin and more take about 120 tabs a week plus insulin injections 4 times and prick testing 4 times as well. If I can cut back on any meds I will. I have one of those big U pillows and that helps at night. I got the 12 Ft. One and it goes right round to each ankle. fits nicely between your knees to help with hip pain.

Hi Mistee71, given the amount of medication you are on, I think you should ask your doctor first. Ask them if you can take CBD oil and see what they say. x

Hi Tedsmum, I have just come across this thread, hopefully it’s ok to ask you a question 🙂

I ordered from CBD brothers once, can’t remember what strength, but i think it was the one below the most expensive range. I found i was totally confused about how often and how much to use. Once I even used 10 drops under my tongue and just didn’t find it effective. I know I probably wasn’t using it right but as you said, they can’t give dose info out. I’m currently looking at the purple capsules but am hesitant as I have no clue how to use them. Any guidance?

Apologies to the OP for jumping in to this post 🙂

Hi Defectivegoose49,

No problem at all with you asking a question. 🙂

The first thing to say is that as with anything, we all tend to react differently, so there is an element of trial and error.

From your description, I’m guessing you used the blue CBD oil, which is from a Hemp strain called Sativa. Sativa will not relax you and is recommended for use in the mornings. I only found this out recently.

More is not better with CBD. There is an amount which will work best for you and any extra CBD on top of this will be just wasted. 😯 It’s trial and error to find the best dose.

I am using the green Sativa paste on small square of dark chocolate, as CBD works best when taken with some fat (that’s why it is mixed with coconut oil). You could use the green oil, if you prefer. I’m getting on well with it and the amount I use is 2 very large grains of rice, or a little more on a bad day. I use it before getting out of bed in the morning.

At night I use the purple paste, this is an Indica strain which relaxes and helps me sleep. I use it just before bed. I use less of this as it is stronger, so 2 small grains of rice.

The purple capsule contain more paste, but because you swallow it, you to wait 2 hours for it to start working. I’ve taken the capsules in the past, but find the paste quicker and more effective.

You need to hold the oil or paste under your tongue or against the roof of your mouth for 2 minutes, so it can be absorbed into your blood stream.

Don’t drive while taking the purple Indica, as it can make you feel very relaxed.

I use CBD instead of opioids now. If you take opioids make sure you take them at a different time of day to the CBD, as they both use the same pain receptor sites, so taking them at the same time is a waste. In states in the US where CBD or medical cannabis is legal they have seen a big drop in opioid use.

Please bare in mind, I’m not qualified in anyway, so all I’m doing is letting you know what I’m doing.

I’ve done a lot of research to learn more more about CBD and the best way to use it and have experimented with oils, paste and capsules.

I find the paste easiest to use, as I can get in a bit of a mess with the oil. Also, it is much easier to control the amount I use with the paste. With the oil I was using 2 drops. The oil can get a bit solid in winter and has to be stood in warm water to turn back into an oil. With the paste you can use it right to the end easily, whereas the last of the oil is difficult to get out.

I find it works really well for me. There are lots of health benefits from taking CBD, which are well documented and safe, though misinformation is widespread on the internet, including Wikipedia. It is not in the interests of the big pharmaceutical companies for people to take it instead of medication. I’ve come off Pregabalin and Amitriptyline recently, as well as co-codamol and Oramorph. I’m very lucky that GP is very supportive.

I find I still need other coping strategies in the day. During a flare I take the green Sativa paste at lunchtime it helps, but cost is an issue, so I don’t do it regularly.

I’m using subliminal mp3 recordings from Brain Hackers (99p each from Amazon), the “Pain Relief” and “Deep Sleep” ones are a great help and I keep them on in the background. They also do an insomnia one and a relaxation one that I find useful. I’m also using a TENS machine and mindfulness too.

I have no connection with the CBD Brothers, other than being a very satisfied and grateful customer.

I hope this helps and you find what works for you.

Tedsmum 🙂

A small grain of rice is about 5mm and a big grain of rice 10mm.

Thank you so much for your reply! Apologies for only noticing your answer now. Since I’ve been on gabapentin my brain is just mush, but it helped to clear up so much confusion.

I’m wondering if I should discuss this with my gp. I’m doubtful he will be supportive though. I need to wean of these awful pills and would prefer to safely introduce the paste during that with his help. No harm in asking!

Bemoresquirrel in reply to defectivegoose49

Hi, I’ve told my GP and rheumy and both were supportive, but there is no way I’d have told my neurologist, who was very meds focused.

In fairness, he was massively overworked, so I can understand. I just cancelled my appointment having finally come off after 3 or 4 years Pregabalin and Amitriptyline and I’m feeling so much better without them, though I do have a bit more pain, it’s worth it to me.

It’s a good idea to talk to your GP, but don’t expect them to know anything useful about CBD, mine only had a rough idea.

Take it steady and wean slowly.

Hiya.

Do.not buy from them go online and find a Spanish Web site they are the best and will give you all the info you need and you will not get ripped off.

Take care

Dave 😎

I have fibromyalgia and I tried cannabis. It sent my pain levels through the roof. It alleviates pain for arthritis but it doesn't always work with Fibromaygia. I really do hope if you manage to get it that it works for you but for myself and a friend who has also fibro it didn't work. Good luck :)

Hey

I have been using cbd oil for about 3 months now and it is very effective if used right.

I couldnt get much info over here but i went to amsterdam with husband for a weekend and went to one of the smart shops over there( not a coffee house!! Dont get confused lol, this is where stoners go) they have a cbd dr as they call it which u sit down with tell them ur illnesses and there help u choose what u want.

I have pain but i also have crazy legs( restless leg syndrome) so i wanted a cbd oil and a powder which makes u sleepy and chilled( both taste bad but then it hemp what do u expect).

U drop it under ur tongue, 3 drops, leave it there for about half hour until goes into ur blood stream, do not eat or drink straight away or ur wash it away into stomach.

U have no instant feeling as it is cbd not tnc but after about 3-5 days u should start feeling less inflammation in ur body.

I noticed on day 6-7 i just felt easier to move and not so much joint pain and i still do it every morning before work.

I take the tea before bed if ive had a stressful day just to chill my body out. I cant say if it works but my husband says i sleep well and snore, so it must work lol.

I get mine from cbdsense. 10% raw oil. If u dont go for a descent strength u may aswell not bother. It is 60 quid for 10ml but u get what u pay for. U cannot even get that strength over here ... i get mine shipped from amsterdam.

If u get it right and u may need to up ur dose to start with u will see good results.

I was on 30/500mg cocodamol, naproxen, diazepam before i got this now all i may need now and again is a couple paracetamol.

I dont wana say it will help everyone but it really has changed my life, i work a full time job and have two dogs and i was finding it a struggle and sleeping as soon as i got home from work till i went back in next morning but now i seem to have energy back

Just started on CBD which is the cannabis (Hemp) oil sold at Holland and Barrett. Expensive but seems to be working although it is such a low dose at 2.75% cannabis oil. This is the part of the cannabis plant that does not contain THC which is the high when smoked. More information can be found at:

hollandandbarrett.com/shop/...

You can also tell you GP that medical marijuana has been around in the UK for over 7 years.

Both me and my mum use CBD oil from holland and barretts, and both swear by it, it helps you sleep at night and keeps you feeling awake during the day.
