Hello Pennybel1

I just wanted to wish you a very warm welcome to our lovely forum :)

I have never heard of lecaent before. Are you in the UK? What have you been prescribed it for?

If you go onto our mother site you can run off some information pages about Fibromyalgia and how it affects us. Just click on this blue link to take you to the website fmauk.org

You could then show these to your partner. Do you think they may help?

Hopefully you will find that "talking" to others here who understand completely how you feel will help.

We all have Fibro here (including all of the Admin Team) and many of us have other conditions to contend with too.

Once again a very warm welcome.

Hi again :)

I can see that our Jan Janet28 has worked out that you have been prescribed Pregabalin also known as Lyrica.

In addition to weight gain, there is a little known side effect of Pregabalin, which is that if you are prone to depression, it can make your mood incredibly low. Dangerously low in fact.

My best advice to you would be to keep an eye on your mood and how you are feeling generally.

If you feel your mood is being affected please do see your GP.

Many of our members take this medication very successfully, but I just wanted you to be aware of this side effect.

Lu xx

Hi Pennybel1 Welcome to our wonderful forum 😀 I'm sure you will find it invaluable chatting to others who have similar experiences and at different stages of their lives with fibromyalgia.

I think I'm right in saying the drug you mention is what is generally known as Pregablin or (Lycra) or (Lecaent) is the brand which is widely prescribed to help with fibro symptoms. Im afraid it does increase your appetite and this side effect normally brings weight gain.

I'm sorry you feel so low my friend, your not alone here and you will learn a lot of useful information that will help you. Have you spoken to the doctor about how you are feeling. It is quite comon for people with chronic pain conditions to get depressed at times & if you speak to your gp maybe they will prescribe something to make you feel a bit better.

I look forward to chatting with you on the forum.

Luv Jan xx

Hi Penny, and welcome aboard. :) This condition is difficult to live with and anything that has such an impact on life is bound to leave you feeling really depressed at times. OH doesn't understand, but even some Medics dont understand much about it either! It might or might not help, Google 'Spoon Theory' and show it too him. It explains very well the fatigue element of this condition. The pain of course is for you probably the worst thing you have to deal with. Perhaps it would be worth talking to your GP, ask for a review on pain killing options available to you?

This is a very friendly and support Forum (In my opinion anyway lol). Sometimes quieter than others. Let us know how you get on? Tulip aka Dawn :) xx

Hi Pennybel1

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance.

I am on a low dose of Pregabalin at night, and I find it helps a little.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
