First grandchild due in three months and so I thought I'd do some knitting. I started one cardigan (3-6 months with a pattern which was not a good idea!!) so finished it but didn't try to put it together. Decided to knit one without a pattern and put that one together first for practise. Last time I knitted anything was in 1984 and I don't recall having to knit the button band separately, but that is what my patterns say and so I duly tried knitting the two fronts then one button band and sewing it on.. I looked at my knitting for dummies book and on the net too, but let's just say one front piece has headed for the bin. Ready to put the rest of it there too but am not a quitter.
My embroidery group had three expert knitters but they have all left and I don't know any others. Any experts here please who could tell me if it would be ok just to knit the button band along with the front even though it will be different needle size?
Seriously fed up as my hands are bad at the moment so have rested them for a few days and decided to have a go at making the cardigan this afternoon and it was wasted time grrrrrr.
PS is it still July or have I missed a few weeks???
