Hi All. I'm 7 days into a flare up and the pain, well I don't need to explain to you how bad it is. The meds aren't helping. I can't seem to find a position that I can get comfortable in or ease the pain. Does anybody have any tips- things they do during flare ups. I'm using pillows already. Thank you xx

Hi Sam1378 I'm sorry you are having a rough time & in so much pain at the moment my friend, it gets exhausting after a few days doesn't it ?.

Only thing I do is stay in bed but do get up & move around every so often, so I don't seize up completely. I have beany bag cushions that i move around & rest legs or arms, behind back, I find them really helpful because they move easily & support & don't tend to give you that pressure pain. I also have a body pillow that I couldn't live without, maybe cos I sleep on my own lol I put my leg over it & lean on it, really helps. Hot water bottles, heat blanket/pad. Tens machine, gentle massage with warm oils. Gentle stretches. Memory foam mattress is a must for me because I feel like everything is digging in me & causing pain.

If you are having a bad flare that your medication isn't helping, maybe give gp a call & it maybe that your meds dose could be upped or tweaked a little to help you through this flare.

I hope this helps and you feel better very soon my friend.

Luv Jan xx

Thank you Jan. All very good advice. I'll hunt out the tens machine. I'm trying not to take any time off of work but I'm struggling.

I called the doctor this morning, still waiting for a call back.

I hop you are well

Your welcome 😀 it's very difficult when you work, I have these awful flashbacks all the time lol. I bought mine yrs ago from Lloyds chemist, waited for their half price sale, so shop around first cos I paid a tenner for it.

If you feel that rough, it will only prolong your flare probably. That's the thing with fibro that I have found over the yrs. Is to pace yourself & rest as much ad you need to. If you haven't seen before, check out The Spoon Theory, its an important lesson to learn. 😉xx

Sam 1378, I bought my Tens Unit online from CVS PHARMACY ( USA DRUGSTORE). Cost $ 50 US$ . Best investment ever.
