Medication : Hi all I am just wondering... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Medication
I know how you feel. I want to do so much but I feel old and drained. I use to have so much enyge. I've had fibro for over 14 years but it's been worse in the last 2 years
Hi,
I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 5 months ago after 3 months of tests. It seemed to come on overnight although looking back I had been having some symptoms for a while. At the time I was abroad and thought I had Zikka, but tests on my return ruled that, and any other tropical disease, out.
I tried amytriptolene for a month but the side effects of everything tasting very sweet or bitter/sweet were too much and there was very little benefit in terms of better sleep/pain reduction. Co-codamol helped a bit with the pain but would only take it at night - it is addictive and not really suitable for relief of chronic pain.
Three weeks ago I started taking CBD oil orally - it is totally legal as it contains less than 0.2% THC which is the "high" component of cannabis. Within 2 days I was pain free and I felt happy again for the first time since this started. Friends and family tell me that they can tell I am feeling better just by hearing my voice. No side effects, don't feel sleepy, no increased appetite.
Only downside is the cost. I am taking a medium strength oil and it is roughly £20/week and would be £30 if I take the higher strength one. It is a food supplement so not available on the NHS or my private health insurance - they don't cover any treatment for chronic conditions.
Hope this helps - I feel as though I have my life back.
Well that's fibro for you and yes we are all struggling with fibro all over .Also many of us have a lot of other illness es too and it's hard but peeps on here are great and the administratiors are really kind and helpful .I think the best advice is find something you really enjoy because distraction is my best tool
.I have had it since I was 12 years old I have had three children ( that was tough) but I also look back and it was the happiest time .So go see your doc because you could be depressed and that won't. help with your pain .All the best hope you get some help .Even the drs blame everything on fibro .x😇
Hello Hidden
I am sorry you have so much pain. I truly know how you feel having lived with Fibro & ME for 36 years.
The best thing you can do is go and see your GP and ask what they recommend you try.
I personally do not like discussing medication due to the fact that what works for one person is another ones poison.
I have seen many people say that something works really well for them, but has done nothing for me.
Please do seek your GP's advice. As our Matrix has said, you could end up feeling depressed as well.
Wishing you a peaceful evening
Lu xx
PS It is a good idea of getting into the habit of locking your posts. Here is an easy to follow guide on how to do this:

I know what you mean by feeling way older than I am. I do not take prescription medications right now. I have found some ways to help myself without taking that step.
I found Apple Cider Vinegar with mother drinks with helped me with extreme body aches and has been helping eliminate the extent of my fascia and muscle knots, they aren't all gone yet; but with ACV and stretching and foam rolling (and monthly massage sessions) I have greatly reduced them.
Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables has really helped energy levels and also helps achiness and really lots of issues. (Acv also helps lots of different issues)
Wheat grass tablets and Spirulina tablets both help increase nutrition which helps with achiness and energy.
I have changed my diet to be mostly whole foods, as close to nature as possible. It has helped. I am still clinging to my coffee but going to eventually cut that, I get horrible headaches if I go without- the addiction is strong. I am hoping switching to green tea will keep the headaches at bay.
Magnesium chloride oil diluted with distilled water helps take the edge off of tight muscles.
CBD OIL helps with pain
Paying attention to posture and balancing muscle use has helped take added stress off of already over used muscles.
I walk everyday. I walk for a while sit for a while, do some house work, sit, walk, sit, work. Finding a balance between resting and working is one of the most difficult things. Increasing my endurance is also hard for me. It's hard for me not doing what I want, I'm bull headed.
If you don't already set a bed time, and a wake up time. This has really got me on in a good sleep routine and get close to a good anoint of sleep most nights. * lacking sleep sets off a lot of fibro issues.
We are all different people in different places within our fibros evolution, so what works for one won't necessarily work for another. If you decide to try any of these please give them 3-4 weeks to work. And if it is detoxing your body you may feel rough the first week or so but after that the energy comes and you start feeling the benefits. Detoxing can make your body tired, because it's working to get out bad things your body hasn't been able to get rid of, so it's working a lot. Just let your body rest.
Anyways, sorry for flood of info.
I hope you find something to help.
Take care×××
As much as our symptoms seem to differ from person to person so relief giving medication differs too.
Some people find natural remedies help, others have been through the whole gamut of meds and still find no relief.
I am sorry I cannot give you comforting news as everyone is so individual.
Perhaps a referral to a Pain Clinic by your GP may be of some help to you.

The main one I am on for fibro is Pregablin. It helps with the burning, shooting neuropathic pain. I am on an anti inflammatory and 30/500mg Zapain tablets (co-codamal). The first one helps the muscular aches but is primarily for my osteo and the painkillers help both. Butrans patches unfortunately caused ulceration where the adhesive was so had to be discontinued. I found Dihycodeine helped but my last GP didn't like that drug do asked me to come off it. Antidepressants help many people but unfortunately don't suit me.
Often complimentary treatment like acupuncture (I use part of my PIP each month to pay for this privately) helps. Hydrothereapy can be good if you can get a referral. You could ask to be referred to a Pain Clinic for advice.x
Hi my friend
For my Fibro I take Nortriptyline, Pregabalin, Nefopam and Cocodamol. I also use a MediPen. I do take a lot more medication but they are for different medical conditions.
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck and please take care of yourself my friend.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
I take 2- 3 Tramadol (50 mg) a day, Prednisone as needed (usually no more than 10 mg if I do take it), Lunesta to sleep, and Flexeril at night if my muscles are too sore... As long as I can get sleep I do relatively well during the day, but cut out even 4 hours of my sleep and I am miserable.. I know what you mean about feeling older... Here's sending best wishes for feeling better
