Other options?

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a year or so ago and have been reliant on Zapain since, but don't want this to be the only option for me. Does anyone know of any other treatments I can try?

Hi WillFMS and welcome to our wonderful forum ;-) I'm sure you will come to love it as we all do. It really helps to be able to interact with others that are going through or been through the same experiences as yourself.

Zapain are for Pain relief only my friend and there is definitely more medication you can take to help with other symptoms of Fibromyalgia & its normal for a Rheumatologist, on diagnosis, that will advise your GP what medication they think would be suitable. I take Pregablin, which is a common medication for Fibro and the other one that is similar is Gabapentin, I also take Amitriptyline to help with muscle spasms and sleep. So yes there is definitely more medication you can take to help relieve the symptoms of Fibro, so if I were you, I would pay a visit to GP & ask what else you can have that will help.

Please do go and check out the Mother Site fmauk.org Where you will find lots of useful

Information and links. If you subscribe to emails you will get all the latest news on Fibro

I look forward to chatting with you on the forum.

Peace, luv n light

PS

I advise you to lock your post for your safety as unlocked posts are open to the internet, I have pasted a link to easy guideline on how to do this yourself in future.

Hi Will- are these pills working for you? How does your fibro affect you, we a re different with how we cope and levels of pain tolerance? Have you been offered physio- a lot of sufferers turn their nose up at physio imagining it to be exhaustive and hard- there are many types of physio available for fibro-ask your g.p about hydrotherapy with a specialist physio-its wonderful in water and the pools are very warm.

Hi there

Please could you just expand a little on your question?

Are you asking whether there are any other medications you can try or are you looking at something more natural to try?

If you can get back to me, hopefully I can give you a more constructive answer.

Many thanks

Lu x

Hello and welcome to our friendly fibro forum.

If you look to the right under Pinned Posts in blue you will see Symptoms and Treatments where members have posted of their experiences.

I do think though that perhaps you should make a double doctor's appointment so that you can discuss different options without being rushed.

Hi WillFMS

Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I use a TENS Machine a great deal and I have found this quite useful. I have pasted you a link below to the NHS Choices cache on this:

There are plenty of other options from Physiotherapy or Hydrotherapy. It may prove beneficial to talk to your doctor about what options you have? I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you
