I met my doctor today and he said all my symtoms are fibro related and I told him I was against steroid pills and he agreed that I did not need steroids. I have had elbow steroid injections that helped for a while but it didn't last long.

Hi Linzyandsamsmom46 That's good, so how did he know that your raised levels are not related to arthritis ? and he must have prescribed them because he thought, due to your levels being raised was due to inflammation..Did he say because I'm curious because they don't usually dish steroids out unless they think they are really necessary. Not that you will probably better off without them, I'm just interested in why he thought you needed them & now he doesn't think you do lol

Yes the injections are a bit hit and miss, I've had some that have relieved my joint instantly more or less & then Iv'e had others that haven't touched the pain. It is very difficult for it to be injected in the correct place I was told but when they do work, I have been able to walk more than 2 steps without being in excruciating pain.

I think he wasn't sure what to do with my results. I just told him I was against steroids.

Hi hun- I too have had steroid injections into elbows knees and shoulders, the strength of these is not like oral tablets and I found after a few times the problem settled down, I had bad calcium crystal deposits and had steroid injections with an mild anaesthetic jab mixed in, they are very effective. don't shy away from relieving your pain... From first diagnosis most people are tried on amitriptyline to help with relaxation from muscle soreness and to help you sleep... Let us know what you finally decide on..

I was a teeny size 10. Was given pure cortisol in Australia. Honestly I was size 16 in 3 months. So i came off what I discovered were steroids and six years later (in UK) I've slipped down to size 14. I must have been eating constantly while on them but I have no memory of those months. It was as though I was manic! Terrible things, steroids!
