Night time HEADACHE

Omg this is so troubling. There is so much pain in my head every night. I wake up in the middle of the night with a throbbing headache. I am in so much pain. I'm so sick of it. Does anyone lose suffer from this? This has been happening to me since June.😢

Have you spoken to your doctor about this? The thing is, we can't always assume that every new pain is due to fibromyalgia. I think it would be worth getting this checked out by your doctor as s/he might be able to find a cause for this and help you with it.

In my case, I've been struggling with severe night-time headaches too recently - but this is due to neck problems. My physio thinks I have arthritis in my neck so this means I find it really difficult to get my head/neck in the comfortable position in bed. I always wake up with a horrible headache. It might be that you have something like this too?

Please do get it checked out - you can never be too careful with neck/head problems.

I also have neck arthritis, degerative problems and cervical ribs. I am thinking this may be the cause also. But I will find out more. I have an appointment with ortho next week. Got I need help!

Ah, that sounds like the same problem as me then. In my case, they're just giving me physio and little gentle stretching exercises for my neck, shoulders and upper spine. It's a horrible thing to have - can be agony sometimes. I feel for you. Hope you can get some help with yours. Maybe a nice heat wrap around your neck before bed-time might help?

Does your headache ease when you sit up in bed or get up to the loo?

Mine does this and I think it may be something to do with the tension and pressure of laying my head on the pillow. I thought at first it was my sinuses but since it clears within a minute or two I am not so sure.

If your headache continues throughout the day I would see your GP, or indeed if you are concerned at all that it is getting worse.

Take care

I have to wake up and get Tylenol. If I stay in bed it worsens. Definitely I am not comfortable and there must be something going on. I can't wait to get assessed

Hi there

As the others have said, I would definitely get this checked out. There are so many different things it could be.

I am wondering whether you have blocked sinuses? Mine are blocked but during the day they don't trouble me too much. It's when I lie down that I start getting bunged up again, which can cause me to have bad headaches.

Definitely make sure you mention it at your ortho appointment.

Wishing you much peace

Thank you! I really hoped the Lyrica would help, but it's still happening. Each day I feel like I'm getting worst. My husband was so scared last night and was going to send me to the hospital because I was in so much agony.

Just a thought - are you able to take some pain killers just before you go to bed?

Maybe try some plain Paracetamol without the codeine in it?

Make sure that you haven't taken the Cocodamol though, as obviously you cannot take Paracetamol and Cocodamol within four hours of each other, and only a maximum of 8 per day.

I have found that the Ibuprofen red gel capsules help incredibly well when I have a severe headache.

I just use supermarket own brands.

I think anything is worth a try. A cold flannel on your forehead is a good idea too. Put the flannel in your freezer in a sandwich bag and then you can put in on your head without it dripping everywhere.

It would be great if you could let me know if any of these work for you?

Advil gives me high blood pressure, so I take Tylenol arthritis. That and Lyrica are the only things prescribed for pain. Nothing seems to help. I'm hoping I can get a stronger perscription like Tylenol 3. I'm going to ask for it next time

sorry to hear your in pain i have headaches on n off but yours sound really bad good advice from other sufferers on here hope you feel better swn looking4me xx

Hello lookingforme- only just seen your message- I agree with others you need to get this checked a.s.a.p. 2 years ago I ignored similar headaches in the night only to be admitted to hospital under a neuro surgeon with a suspected sub arachnoid heammorhage!! NEVER assume persistant head pain is fibro.. I now have neck muscle stiffness at night and I was prescribed Sumatriptine which dulls the onset of a so called migraine which is caused because the muscles at the back of our neck divide into a "V" shape into the skull, surrounded by blood vessels that inflate or sometimes deflate and these pills take them back to normal so as the alleviate the pain.. When I go to hydro (later today) I will stretch my neck muscles in the water as part of my routine for muscle soreness and stiffness.. Don't leave it hun!!

Hey thanks for your message. I took your advice and went to the ER today. They did a CT scan and everything was normal. It's suspected the headaches are from my cervical arthritis and degerative disease. I'm adviced to get an MRI done of my neck. I will ask my doctor about the med your on as well.

Hi my friend

I really am so genuinely sorry to read this and as the others have said it really would be best to get this checked out. One of the most common reasons types of headache to wake you is a migraine. But please do not assume that is what is causing it. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

Slept great last night. I took 20mg of amotryptiline, 75 mg of Lyrica, 1 mg of Ativan, and two extra strength Tylenol plus my softest pillow. I didn't have any pressure at all today. I will try that concoction tonight again 😁
