Good evening all, I have been given all these different types of pills, still 6 months down the line they still haven't told me exactly what I'm suffering from. All these pills are relating to fibro., but still they don't say anything, if i ask they say " we are still deciding on what it is. I was told it more than likely fibro all the symptoms of, but very similar to m-s. I could pull my hair out. I've been burning inside for about 2 years, i get through tubs of cheap ice cream to try and freeze my stomach helps a little till that wears off... I was told the other day that i should have and o-t on my side to help get the things i need. still don;t understand what they were on about. first of all what things do i need i ask my self. all i want is for the pain to go away. (silly woman). Without sounding thick, can anyone tell me what things i need. been left puzzled.
where to go next.: Good evening all, I... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
where to go next.
Hi moody-mum i worried for years that i had ms because i had a cousin with it and the early symptoms were very similar, once i got the courage to tell the doctor what my fears were she put my mind at rest firstly by saying she thought it was fibro and she thought my previous doctor had already told me, secondly she reffered me to a rheumatologist and he confirmed fibro. I hope your doctor puts your mind at rest soon

My friend has M-S and she also thought I had the same. I am convinced its fibro and not M-S. I'm seeing a different doctor (again) next monday and I just hope that I don't have to go all through it again. been going round in circles now for a few years, I did think the last doctor i saw i was going to get some where with it. but he has left the practice . its just locums we are seeing its getting to be a right joke. Just wish all the old time doctors could come back lol
Hello Moody-mum
Welcome to the forum If you have a look at our website you will find lots of information about Fibromyalgia on there, including a list of common symptoms fmauk.org
Have you ever been referred to a Rheumatologist? If not, I think it would be a good idea to ask for a referral.
Getting a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia can take a very very long time. Some of our members have even waited decades.
Lots of other illnesses which have the same or similar symptoms to Fibro need to be ruled out first, including MS and Lyme Disease.
If you are not getting anywhere with your GP can you see another doctor at your practice?
Failing that could you change your surgery in order to find a more understanding doctor.
For some of us, I do not believe that there is a pain killer that permanently takes away the pain. They just take the edge off it.
Until you have got a diagnosis I am not sure what you can do in the meantime.
Would your GP consider sending you to a Pain Management Clinic.
I very much hope that you enjoy being part of our forum. You will find everyone very kind caring and compassionate.
Wishing you much peace

Hi
I see you have been given some great advice, and I agree you should be seen by a rheumatologist. When you see your GP next it would be a good idea to take a family member with you as that does seem to add weight to be taken seriously.
You should not have had to wait this long not knowing, it is extremely unfair and very unprofessional of your doctors.
It just leaves me to say, a very warm welcome to our friendly forum, and hope we will be seeing more of you around here.
Kay
