Hi all.. Having lurked for a while I now come seeking advice, wisdom, thoughts on what is bothering me, I have not joined in before because I don't think I can help in anyway, but I hope that won't be held against me, :-). Anyhooo....I have Fibro, CFS, Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (EDS 3 (or whatever they are calling it this week)) TMJD, Lumber Spine damage and Spina Bifida Occulta, Cervical Spondylosys (and my neck bends the opposite to what it should do) Tinnitus and other misc issues... But, I have noticed more and more recently a sharp stabbing pain... like a needle being stabbed into me and simultaneously muscle jerks... so, I'll get a stab in the big toe and my leg will kick two or three times.. or the stab in my lower abdomen (appendix kinda area) and the leg will kick out or this will happen in my fingers and arms. I also get a painless but startling contraction of the chest and abdo muscles that pulls my body to one side..very often i get loads of the stinging stabbing pain which is like an angry wasp is harassing me. Most annoying and these things are becoming more frequent. It's just happened.. the stomach and the leg...nearly flipped my laptrp tray to the floor..just as well I have lightening reactions.!! So, the upshot of this drawn out post is this - Can anyone relate to what I am experiencing? Have you had the same? Do you know what the devil is going on? I am info gathering before I see the GP so she won't think I am bonkers, although after I described my shoulder pain as 'a woodpecker drilling into my bone' I fear it may be too late. Thanks in advance y'all. Julie

Stabbing and jerking
Hi Julie I can't help you with ur symptoms but wanted to say hi and welcome to a great site I'm sure someone will be along soon to help you
Just like to say hallo. It looks like you have so many illnesses to contend with that you could certainly do without the latest symptoms. I get the burning, stabbing pains but fortunately without the jerking effect. The drug that has helped me the most with this kind of neuropathic pain has been Pregablin. Hope others can come on and help you more. I know some forum members have found a muscle relaxant has helped these jerks. Take care and look forward to your future posts.x
Hi there
I have Fibro, CFS, HMS, Osteoarthritis etc.
I recognise a few of your symptoms.
As rosewine has said you do seem to have a lot going on.
Have you seen a Rheumatologist and/or Neurologist?
From my experience I would have thought that seeing a Neurologist may be your best bet.
Have you ever tried a muscle relaxant? Perhaps you could ask your GP about that?
Just bullet point down your symptoms and ask your GP for a referral.
Please keep posting and let us know how you get on.
Good luck.
Lu xx
Oooh just thought of another thing.. well cos i noticed it happening.. my head twitches and even sometimes nod - like the 'Churchill dog' only not so obvious.
I am just wondering whether it could be any of your meds or a combination of your meds. It is just you saying that head movement. When I was out on a tablet some yeafsbwck for my insomnia I had these sort of strange involuntary head movements and my eyes and mouth twitched.x
Welcome to you.
I only get the odd stabbing and jerking. I wonder if yours is related to Restless Leg? I'm almost certain you will get some sort of answer from someone with similar symptoms.
Don't do yourself down, you may well have something to say when you feel it right. There's no pressure. That's partly the point of mutual support. If its a comfort simply to know you don't suffer alone, then the work is done. XX
Hi Kaleidobrain , welcome to the forum, It's very nice to meet you!
Have you been checked out for Inner tremors? / essential tremors?
Soft hugs, Elizabeth xx
No, I have only mentioned this to the pain clinic and they didn't really flag anything up. But, because I have noticed it becoming more frequent I thought I should act on it.. better safe than sorry. I will admit I have no idea what inner/essential tremors are so i shall educate myself, thank you. x
Hi Julie I used to suffer from a lot of jerking and spasms this improved hugely after taking vit d prescribed by gp and regularly using Epsom salts in bath. Lack of magnesium can cause the spasms. Good luck
You have Fibro! Also, is there a season change? You will react to that. I am! I don't think you ever have to apologize for disappearing. We're are your kind & it could happen to any of us at any time...lack of sleep & severe stress are the worst! So try to address this first. Wishing you peace! 🌻
Hi Kaleidobrain
I am so genuinely sorry to read of all of your medical conditions and of the issues that you are enduring at this time, and as the others have said it could be related to many different things from your medications to your medical conditions?
However, a couple of things sprung to mind and I have pasted links below for you, so I sincerely hope that you find these useful:
Peripheral neuropathy
nhs.uk/Conditions/Periphera...
Complex regional pain syndrome - Symptoms
nhs.uk/Conditions/Complex-R...
I was very interested to read of your conditions and side by side they mount up to a great deal of symptoms for you to contend with and I was wondering if you have ever had an MRI to look for lesions on the brain that could spell Multiple Sclerosis? The only reason that I ask is that my wife has MS and she also has all of the symptoms that lead to the conditions that you have?
I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
