It felt good to finally get the diagnosis. But now feel a bit flat and empty, hope that doesn't sound too strange. I find it very difficult to get interested in anything and I'm hoping that joining this site might help. Any suggestions are very welcome.

Hi _Tildy_ welcome to the site were you will get not only help and advice but also friendship with people that are going through the same pain as you come on here everyday or pop in and out but you will always find someone to talk or rant and moan to ☺
Hi _Tildy_
Welocme to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I have pasted for you below a link to our mother site, FMA UK which hosts loads of useful Fibro information:
I am so genuinely sorry to read that you also have Fibro and I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.
All my hopes and dreams for you
Ken
Heya, this is a great forum you are very welcome. You sound down. Natural with a diagnosis of Fibro but if your low mood persists or you start feeling worse it might help to see your GP. Depression is v common with chronic illness.
I may have got the wrong end of the stick and you might just be having a bad week, but I thought better safe than sorry.
Anyway, keep popping onto the forum. Best wishes.
Hedgehog.
Hi there, I am not long diagnosed either. I was misdiagnosed with arthritis for years.
I can understand you feeling flat. I have been feeling that too on and off. I'm battling to try and stay positive because I have learned it is so important with this condition.
This forum really helps with that. There is a great bunch of people here with a wealth of knowledge. It is also a great comfort to speak to others with Fibromyalgia.
Welcome to the forum Tildy.
Annette xx
Hello and welcome Tildy....I am sure you will never regret finding this forum...they are all so helpful and friendly and can help with so many problems/questions that we have that when we get to the doctors we forget to ask..not only that but it appears we have a regular chuckle, laugh at some posts I am sure we all try to develop a sense of humour re. Fibro etc. as it is a coping method....
Hope your day is as good as it can be.....Trikki xx
Hello and welcome!
I expect it was good to get a diagnosis, but like you say you feel a bit "flat".... you are probably thinking "well what do I do now?"
Did the Rheumatologist make any suggestions? Therapies, treatments, any information?
As "the Author" has kindly suggested you can look on the mother website fmauk.org for lots of useful information.
For me I found you have to go through all the stages of grieving for your old life.....
First I got relief for knowing what I was dealing with, then I got Angry, constantly asking "why did it happen to me?", then I finally got acceptance, realising that I would have to learn to live my life in a different way, and then I have learnt "pacing" (the Spoon Theory butyoudontlooksick.com is great for this)
You have to learn to adapt your life to minimise the symptoms, for me I find avoiding stressful situations, gentle exercise, yoga swimming and walking, and careful planning (lots of breaks, and rest) and "listening" to your body (stopping when it starts to complain!)
Maybe there is a Support group in your area (look on the fmauk.org website) that you can join.
Hope some of this helps xxx
Welcome an good luck
Snap- I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia 3 weeks ago - after 5 years of bloods , xrays, MRI , electro , and generally being examined (pulled about) a lot !!! - we knew what I had for a while we were dealing with it - but when the rheumatologist officially told us - we cried in the car park. - reality . - we were quiet for a week now we have come out fighting - dealing with it the best way we can - finding information, diet, supplements, diet, pacing , resting and exercise - and trying so hard to be positive 😊😊. - good luck - Neese. x
Hello Tildy. I too have just been told that I probably have fibromyalgia - by my rheumatologist after being treated for rheumatoid arthritis for 18mths. In fact I was told yesterday. It took me completely by surprise and I burst into tears - very embarrassing but they e were very good about it.
I suddenly felt very alone and miserable and I think it is because I had received such great support from my rheumatologist and the nurse and the NRAS helpline people and now all that was gone. But wonderfully there seems to be an equally nice group of folks here who give support and encouragement and we all need that so much.
It sounds like you and Neese too have had all the tests etc and got a firm diagnosis. I'm just starting out on that road, so hoping it won't be too rocky. Blessings. Judy.
