Try not to go mad.

I went swimming and did too much and had to stop. I've just started again and am not doing as much, feel a lot better.

Take care and best wishes.

Activity of any kind of beneficial to people with fibro ... And dies not necessarily mean heading to the nearest gym.

Are you able to walk around your house/into garden ... Get up and walk for a minute or two every half hour or hour.

Do you have stairs? Do a couple of step ups on the bottom step, several times a day (holding onto handrail if required for support)

Sitting in your chair watching TV?. Do some arm and leg stretches,

All easy ways to start becoming more active at home, which can easily be increased in distance or time walked, or number of repetitions. Xxx

I undertake a 20 minute gentle exercise regime on a daily basis. My physiotherapist gave me exercise sheets and we went through them together for several months until I was competent enough just to get on with them. I do believe that they have helped me. I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck with your exercises but please remember not to overdo things. It may be prudent to talk to your doctor about this prior to starting any exercise regime?

All my hopes and dreams for you

I agree 100% johnmazio. Neatly everyone can do something even if it's just stretches for the arms and hands whilst sitting down. I can't walk at all but I have strong visible muscles in my arms and legs from doing simple repetitions of movements that have built up over time from just one or two. Sometimes it can feel impossible but by trying a few I've discovered that my body will do more than my head tells me it can.

My chiropractor tells me that the enemy of many conditions is muscle wastage which leads to much more pain and disability.

We can't all go to the gym or even go for a walk but it's surprising what our bodies will do.

Sometimes I'm given a new exercise and I think no way but often within a week I am managing to do a bit. Sometimes it just doesn't happen and the pain gets too much but rarely.

Hoping you all will try something, even some shoulder rolls and foot rotations, today

Dee

Sorry for the preachy tone but I do feel strongly about this.

We need to be a little careful here. If you ONLY have fibro, then fine, exercise is good, but many people develop fibro as a secondary condition and in that case please always talk to a hospital consultant before undertaking any new exercise.
