work related activity component/support component
Hi there
No. You don't have to go in every day. The JobCentre will contact you and ask you to go in for a Work Related Activity interview.
It is not a job interview. You will be allocated someone who will see you each time so you don't have to keep repeating yourself.
Wait to be called in and see how things go. You can appeal to be put into the Support Group but it can take a very long time.
If you wait until you have had your first interview and see how it goes you will then be better placed to make a decision about what you want to do.
Wishing you much peace

I was originally put into the wrag group and went to the interview. It was all about them getting me to do things to find work, including job applications. I was nowhere near capable of doing that at that time and I was advised to write a letter to the dwp and ask them to consider moving me into the support group. In the letter I explained all the reasons why I couldn't work and pointed out all the things I was trying to do to get well, such as keeping hospital appointments, taking meds etc. Stressed to them about pain and brain fog and they moved me. I can't remember if I sent copies from doctor or hospital again, they had been submitted with the original claim. I may have been lucky.
If you don't feel well enough to work or go in every week like I was initially expected to, then tell them at your first wrag appointment or interview. A reconsideration letter may help you too. I only went to one appointment when I was moved into the support group. They are generally monthly, but they just did my 'appointment' over the 'phone. Good luck!
When I was on ESA I was in the WRAG group and was actually interviewed by someone who was a Disability Officer. I must say he was very kind and said he was going to do a report to say that at that time and for the foreseeable future he did not think I would be fit enough to do a job. He actually admitted that he had observed me from the moment I went into the waiting area and saw how uncomfortable I appeared sitting on the hard chairs.
I personally didn't try to get into the Support group as I was on Contribution Based ESA and with that you are only allowed to be in it for 12 months so it wasn't worth the hassle for me.
Good luck with everything.x
Hi rosewine
I believe if you are on contribution based ESA and In the support group their is no limit on time you claim .
Its only a limit of one year of claiming ESA in the WRAG group.
unless this has changed very recently

Totally correct but of course I was in the WRAG with an ill husband who I was trying to get to the Tribunal stage for his ESA and with other things in my plate just could not fight the two. I was also very near my official retirement age when it would have been taken off me in any case so sometimes in life we have to chose our battles. Yes we won at Tribunal after a two year fight and two tribunals but as OH said if he had known that it would take out of us he would have just rolled over. I pursued it as a matter of principal as as we know no ones knows how I'll a person is unless they live with them. Don't know about you but the present benefit system sends me screwy.x
Hi Shahanara123, I can see that you have had your question answered so I will simply genuinely wish you all the best of luck with this.
All my hopes and dreams for you
