More Sweats Since The Weather's Gone Cooler :(

FoggyMoggy profile image

When we had that warm spell last week I could get my summer clothes out for the first time this 'summer' and wearing fewer layers definitely helps me. But now I am back to the sweating :( I know I've written about this before but it is really disconcerting when your body feels cold and yet is sweating. Obviously if I felt hot I could discard many of the layers. But I still have my hot water bottle in bed especially for my cold feet.

Hi there

This is a fairly common symptom of Fibromyalgia.

However it is worth mentioning it to your GP next time you see him/her as it's very easy to dismiss symptoms as "just" Fibro.

Hi Lu

I forgot to mention that I'm going through the change, so that's what GPs are obviously thinking.

Thanks kindly Ken. I am going through the change which doesn't help matters so it's hard to know what is that and what is Fibro.

Thanks Peck. I don't even feel hot but cold and sweaty :( I am going through the change too so it's hard to know what is that and what is Fibro! I am sure my thyroid isn't working properly or should I say my pituitary but so far nothing properly diagnosed. Best wishes

Have you tried evening primrose and starflower oil tablets you can get them separately or together most supermarkets do them I found they help me with hot flushes

Thanks Carol - they're not really hot flushes so much as cold sweats! By that I mean my clothes get soaking but I don't think i've tried evening primrose oil before or starflower tablets so I will try anything :)

Horrible isn't it I can break out in a sweat for no reason but like you normally have cold hands and feet even on a hot day. Last night I was really burning in bed nothing I could do seemed to bring the heat down but once I got up I have been fine. Aren't our bodies strange.x

Thanks Rosewine. Yes our bodies are strange. I don't even feel hot, I am cold but sweating. When it was warmer weather I sweated less!

Best wishes

Hi foggymoggy

I have the exact same problem and discovered after blood tests that it is a side effect of one of my medications, so it really is worth going to see your doctor and get it investigated. I have managed to help myself with herbal remedies, so there hope.

Thanks Misty-Moo. The problems for me is that I'm going through the change too so it is hard to know what is that and what is fibro. I have tried several things but nothing has helped as yet. Only the warmer weather.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I have not been great. Apparently they can tell in the blood test the difference between the change and other problems. I only know this as I was being tested to see if the sweating was due to the change. Xxx

Hi, thanks healthygenes...sorry for late reply. I've only just seen it! I did try Agnus Castus for period pain years ago and it didn't help but will try anything for these sweats. Thanks :)

Hi FoggyMoggy I also use one of those clip on fans at the side of my bed, I'm asthmatic so it's handy to have, especially during the night for my breathing, if I have an asthma attack at night it stops me panicking.

That's great, health genes. You have to find what works for you. I have a fan on my desk now as I speak. I have found these last few days that it is so hot even my feet aren't cold at night and I've needed to lie on the top of the bed with the windows open at night just like everyone else! Although I've had bad headaches it is a relief not to sweat so much. How barmy is that...not sweating when it's hot weather! And I was even able to have a bath yesterday without feeling damp for the rest of the day!
