Reducing my hours

Hi everyone, I've recently made the massive decision to reduce my hours at work. My boss is really supportive and I'm trying it for a couple of months to see how I get on. I'm just worried that this is a slippery slope and just wondered if anyone had temporarily reduced hours and managed to return to full time?

Hi, I gave up work completely a couple of years ago as my symptoms were quite bad. I have things settled now so Im looking for a part time job.

Dont think of this as a 'slippery slope'. You are just looking after yourself. Well done for making this decision. You may go back to full time at a later date or keep part time for a while.

Take care of yourself. Have you thought of topping up your wage with benefit. You can work up to 16 hours and claim Employment Support Allowance (ESA). This is only for 12 months but gives you time to sort things out. It is only £100 a week but it still helps.

Hi ,I have had eight months off and now I'm going to go back to 35 hours a week.

I think having had a long break, has given me the time to sort myself out and get myself mentally and physically prepared.

Don't think this is the slippery slope . Just give yourself time and you will be okay.

Take care .

I think it's a great idea if it's affordable for you. Hopefully you will have more energy if you can pace the hours your not working.Best wishes. Peck🐤

Hi Alisonomis

I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? It is not something that I have done myself, but I sincerely hope that it works for you. As long as you can afford to do so then it is always worth a try?

There are benefits that you could apply for to help supplement you income such as PIP which is the new ''Personal Independence Payment.'' This is a tax free benefit that you claim for your disability and can be applied for regardless of whether you are employed or not. I have pasted you a link below on how to apply:

gov.uk/pip/how-to-claim

It may help to discuss your situation with a benefits adviser? So I have pasted you a link to our FMA UK benefits adviser, (Janet):

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
