Hospital and wheelchair

Ok so I've had 5 weeks of heart issues and collapsed. My latest collapse landed me in hospital where I am now (I don't think it's related to fibro but wanted some general advice) I've been told they can discharge me tonight but they want me to transfer only remaining in a wheelchair. I don't know (and neither do the doctors) how long this will continue for and the hospital don't provide wheelchairs. Somehow I've to get a wheelchair and manage around my council flat with it (don't know if doorways are big enough) I really don't know what to do and I'm feeling really overwhelmed. I've also got to see if work will allow me to do my job (activities coordinator / senior in a care home) from a chair. It's all rubbish but I would like some advice on what I can do cos I can't think straight right now.

Hi Minx88x

I am so genuinely sorry to read that you have been having heart problems and I sincerely hope that you are starting to feel better and can find the answers that you so desperately desire and deserve.

The British Red Cross loan out wheelchairs and other disability aids to people, I do not know if this will help you? I have pasted you a link below:

It may be beneficial to ask your local council for an Occupational Health Assessment so they can come along and visit you in your flat and see how you are coping and what adaptions can be made to help you.

I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I don't think they are supposed to discharge you without checking that your home is suitable for using a wheelchair. It needs to be assessed by the Occupational Therapy Team, and Social Services. MariLiz
