Hi, I'm new to this site and would like some advice please. For the last 10 months I've had a stressful time at work and GP diagnosed anxiety with depression. I've since changed jobs and mentally feel better. During all this time I've had pains and aches in differnt parts of my body, from elbow, neck, legs, hips and a very painfull area on my breast bone. I've not mentioned any of it to my GP, I thought it was because of the stress and my lack of decent sleep. But I'm happy now and have no stress but if anything the problem is worse. I couldn't get out of my car yesterday because of the pain in my hip!! I'm only 50! Does this sound like fybro??

I would let your doctor know about your pain. It could be a number of things. I would definitely have it checked out. The widespread pain could be but there are other things out there. Check our mother site for more information if you like. Welcome to the site and I hope you find the answers you seek.

I have to agree! It's best to let your Dr. Know. Especially if it persists, your body's is telling you something isn't right. I know how depression and anxiety can be, it does a lot to your body with such stress. A job can def be the culprit at times, I'm glad that you've been able to find a better career that makes you feel less stress.

I am in total agreement with the others as you really should get this checked out just to have other medical conditions ruled out of the equation and possibly get a Fibro diagnosis if they think it is Fibro? I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

As all our friends above have said, pls go back to your GP, write everything down so you dont forget to mention something. Good luck, do let us know how you go :) xxxx

Sending you healing and positive hugs :) xxx

Aww thank you all for your advice. I did ring my GP this morning but unfortunately I was too late and all the appointments had gone. Ill have to set my alarm in the morning and try again. My sleep pattern is wide lately, I can't get off to sleep cause something or other is aching then when I do fall asleep it's like I'm unconscious! Hense the late waking to ring GP! I'll see what he says tomorrow x

Update: my bloods came back and all ok. I really don't know what next. The pain and tiredness comes and goes. If I do anything that's even the slightest bit taxing I'm washed out and exhausted! I go to bed earlier and earlier every night but still achey and tired when I wake. My GP isn't very easy to talk to, do I just carry on like this? Taking paracetamol for these unexplained pains? I'm sorry for the rant.

I agree with the others, it could be any number of things - vitamin deficiency, anaemia.. I would go to your doc and get some blood tests done first. Fibro is usually diagnosed after most other things have been ruled out - i.e. there is no blood test that diagnoses it, it's a diagnosis based on exclusion of other things first. I hope you get sorted, in my opinion docs are very quick to say you're suffering from stress.

Ask for thyroid to be checked, plus B12, ferritin and folate and VitD. If any of these are low extreme aches and pains are likely. Best wishes MariLiz
