CBT Therapy

Hi all,I have been refered by my GP for CBT. Has anybody else been and did you find it useful.

I know I need to get things straight in my head and I also need to learn to pace, I find this most difficult of all. I just wondered whether it was useful or just a waste of time for both the therapist and myself.

Best wishes

I found it very helpful, it enabled me to accept my limitations and be at peace with things, its hard to come to terms with illness when you have always coped in the past. All else aside you can talk absolutely anything through at these sessions when maybe you cant do this with family. Good luck with it xx

Yes my behavioral therapist has been with me from the beginning and reminds me of what I have and to progress from that point.

Yes, I have and still do so on occasions, like Lou it has helped me come to terms with my conditions and how to cope with the ongoing problems which occur from time to time.

Sending lots of positive vibes your way 😃😃

Hi. I use this all the time, plus self hypnosis, for various things in life. Especially getting to sleep! Both self learnt. I bought books. It's worth its weight in Gold in my opinion! X

Hi, sorry to here your suffering. I also have endometriosis so can really relate to your pain. I have had surgery 6 years ago now and although it was horrible to go through I'm glad I did. I didn't have a hysterectomy as I chose not to as I wanted children. I now have two beautiful children. I had something else not sure what they did but really helped.

Good luck with your appointment, hope all goes as you wish.

I also think that perhaps CBT will also help you deal with everything so defiantely worth trying.

Let me know how you get on xx

Hi - I have just finished a course too - I had also done lots of reading before and had been involved in sports psychology with my three sporty kids so knew quite a bit before hand although the whole thing about e mind is that it's a minefield!

I did think it was worth it to go as a refresher to help turn negatives thoughts into positives but tbh there is some really good reading out there too. I had to wait a year after referral for first appt to come through. Someone mentioned ruby wax has a book about mindfulness on another post which I am going to find and give a read. The trick in everything is to find a distraction away from pain. Find a new or old hobby to do and be kind to yourself.

Hugs to you and hears hoping you find something that helps you Jax 💕

Ps mind didn't help with or mention pain management itself btw
