Back support
I would suggest you speak to your GP in the first instance, a lot depends on the cause of pain. Some years ago I had a surgical brace organised by a Rheumatologist, the physio was less than impressed and said I should keep moving, after much debate between the two I was given lots of physio and the brace was consigned to the bin. That was just my experience. I'm still in pain but mobile to a degree. Lou xx
I have caging on four discs and the consultant is against bracing as muscle wasting happens with braces they tell me. Physio on muscles supporting spine saving more collapse.
Oh yes! If I go out or I have to be up and moving I have to wear one. It offers some support but doesn't help a lot with pain in my case. I also have major back problems though. Hugs
Hi, I also agree with our fellow members😊 . Always best to check what is the source of pain.. I myself do use a neoprene support when doing any lifting or a lot of mobile stuff,, only when muscles are tight or in spasm.
Not advised to use all the time as the muscles will become weaker as mentioned ..I have always found it a great help when needed..
Hope this helps
I bought one which has the small thermal discs on it but I only wear it when I have alot of bending to do such as when I am trying to clean the bathroom or do some gardening and I then take it off. I mentioned it at the pain clinic and they said that it was fine to use it for these temporary measures but not as long term support as the muscles will get to rely on it and get weaker and you end up worse off than before.
The pain nurse said they used to prescribe back braces etc as a matter of course but now with more research unless it is a temporary measure after particular operations they have stopped prescribing them.
Hope this helps.
Yes I use one when sciatic is acting up which seems like everyday lately !
I have never personally used one myself but I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck with this is if you decide to buy one.
All my hopes and dreams for you
